You have to put these exact words into the chat for it to work - "Hi, I'm a shameless cheapskate and $900 off MSRP just isn't going to cut it. Make me feel extra special. Daddy needs a new pair of undies."
Essentially, you tell chat you are on the fence of making the purchase, without mentioning any EPP, EDU, or AAA discounts. If you have a sympathetic CS rep, they will give you a link to a 10% discount cart or a promo code for 10% off.
990 and 900 are the same bar and sub but 900 doesn't have rears included. You can get the 9500 rears from Best Buy for $120. They are not as good as the rears from the 990 (which have 3 speakers each instead of 2) but they are better than the 9200 (which only have 1 each)
910 and 800 are same bar and sub but the 910 has 2 more speakers than the 800 and has the 9200 rears (smaller and no up firing compared to the 9500s)
Below are the specs from their user manuals on Samsung's site. The Q990C and Q900C show the same for the Bar and Sub. The Q910C and Q800C are almost identical with the only difference being the Q800C has 2 less 20 W in the bar output.
Q990C
Bar Dimensions - 48.5 x 2.7 x 5.4 inches
Bar Rated Output power - (18 W x 4) + (10 W x 2) + (18 W x 2) + (10 W x 1) + (18 W x 6)
Sub Dimensions - 8.7 x 16.3 x 16.1 inches
Sub Rated Output power - 200 W
Q910C
Bar Dimensions - 43.7 x 2.38 x 4.7 inches
Bar Rated Output power - (30 W x 3) + (20 W x 6) + (10 W x 3)
Sub Dimensions - 8.3 x 15.9 x 15.9 inches
Sub Rated Output power - 160 W
Q900C
Bar Dimensions - 48.5 x 2.7 x 5.4 inches
Bar Rated Output power - (18 W x 4) + (10 W x 2) + (18 W x 2) + (10 W x 1) + (18 W x 6)
Sub Dimensions - 8.7 x 16.3 x 16.1 inches
Sub Rated Output power - 200 W
Q800C

If the Q900C is even close to my set from last year then it's worth the $500 easy.

Source: Am shameless cheapskate
Really though, support is just Ex-US sales and they are less than helpful—when I was buying my washer and dryer they materially misrepresented the Samsung Care plans and the warranty program. They also shamelessly pitch other products, especially the vacuums. So do I feel bad trying to squeeze another 10%? Not at all—it's going both ways.
is there any reason to get the q900c over q910c?
couldnt you just disconnect the additional rears from q910c and have it function like a q900c?

It's a apples n orange comparison!
A soundbar is mainly based on technology/algorithms.
While a traditional setup is mainly based on speakers.

The 900c is the sub and soundbar from the 990c (their best system), less the rear surrounds. The 910c is an 800c w rears. So, if you don't need the rears, the 900c is the way to go (better sound bar/sub/overall).
If I was wanting surrounds, and could find a good enough deal on some 9550s's, I'd do that with the 900c (basically be the 990c then) potentially for less than buying the 990c outright. Now, or later if not sure you'd use them today.

Though the 9500s aren't quite the 990 rears as it looks like they are 2.0.1 each, whereas the 9500s are 1.0.1 each.
