Classic Merging over the next 12 months

The Slickdeals community team has been working hard to make Slickdeals the best it can be for over 20 years, and new updates roll out to the community almost every week.
As a part of that effort, we'll be merging the Classic version of Slickdeals with the latest version of Slickdeals over the next 12 months.
You can anticipate the following as part of that platform merger:
If you primarily use Classic, there's no need for you to take any action. Your current Slickdeals account will remain active and will change to the current, unified experience automatically.
Millions of Slickdeals members are already using the current version of the website, which has dark mode support, improved shopping intelligence, and easier ways to engage with the community.
Change can be hard. Bringing all Slickdealers together into a single experience will enable you to continue to enjoy the latest community features and enhancements.

- Access to the Classic version of Slickdeals will reduce over time. This process starts on August 22, 2023.
- You can expect a variety of improvements to the latest version of Slickdeals, often referred to within the community as "Redesign," specifically intended to make it easier for Classic users to transition to Redesign.
- The team of engineers and product folks managing the merger will conduct continuous interviews to make sure a variety of community voices and points of view are included. You can sign up for a 1:1 with a team member here [calendly.com].
- If you primarily use Classic, you will migrate over to the newest version of Slickdeals throughout the next year.

I'd ask anyone who is truly opposed to this change to schedule a time to talk with someone from SD one on one. Maybe, if we get enough folks to talk to them directly, maybe, just maybe, we can get them to give us a ... hmm... a Classic Clone using redesign. (?)

I don't want a deal/shopping site to have such a classy look either. It seems inappropriate…
Why not incorporate some of the style of the classic version? also liked how it used to list similar and past same deals at the bottom of the thread.

They do listen. They may not do all we want, but they do try to listen. So keep telling them what you want, such as your compact spacing idea, or things you like or dislike. They can't know what users want if you don't speak up
1. Lack of dark mode -- this is built, but due to a bug we temporarily disabled it. We'll have this back up soon.
2. Missing thread tools, particularly for subscribing to a thread -- this is new, we'll look into this.
3. "Legibility" of text, particularly in list view -- we'll fix this as well.
4. Search results returning limited results: We're currently showing the last year of results with expired deals hidden and sorting by "relevance". There's a bug that prevents showing older deals. Additionally, we're tuning our search engine to get better results.
5. No community wiki: This is coming soon.
6. Thread issues including "Go to last post" / Having to scroll down to the page -- this is a bug. We'll fix it.
7. Missing a search comments feature: We had to take this out temporarily as it has a bug
I can understand your frustration dealing with these issues and want to share my appreciation for any / all feedback. Feel free to DM me, submit feedback to the blue "Feedback" button in the bottom right side.

While he will be monitoring the thread more now I think/hope, he and his teams are very busy so he likely won't be checking it daily, so he may not see your list for a week or two or something. But if you reply to and quote him directly, he'd get the notification that you replied and hopefully see your post sooner.
If you do wish to reply to him instead of me, I can delete your post to me if you wish so that there's not a duplicate post/listing. If so, just quote me here and let me know. He's the one you should now give your likes/dislikes to, now that he's given that update above and will be checking in sometimes, since he's the one that can address or implement them.

1) why is there so much empty space! The type seems smaller for no good reason. Don't waste our time making us scroll more. The spacing looks like I'm reading a poetry journal...Don't like it.
2) looks like I'm not getting my site notifications on the new pages, At least when I click on a link from email. but I haven't tested it extensively.
3) I hate the design of the page it takes me to when I click on your email links, it's kind of like the mobile pages which I always disliked. i used to use the redesign version mainly and switch to classic when I needed something else, or when reply button wasn't working on the other 2 versions.
4) why can't you make the font darker?
5) dislike that you don't have the thumbnails on the deal thread anymore that gives you the really big images of the productsWhere I can read Details like the ingredients…
6) your ads change too quickly. Sometimes there's an ad I want to look at, but it's already gone. Why don't you do like Instagram and let us bookmark ads we actually like?…I go to the thread to get some useful info from others. So appreciate if you would not minimize that And keep it easy to read quickly.**I mean the ads are perfectly easy to read, why not make the users comments almost as legible? your design favors advertisers over users.
7) why are my pages reloading more frequently? Could it have anything to do with this site? and or I may not have enough RAM
8) the vote needs to be more prominent on the new pages. could barely see little button to see how people voted
9) are you testing my account? I see a deal alert that I never set.
10) The reply button doesn't work for me on any version except for the classic version on this thread.This has been on and off problem for a while but it may have to do with my device? Because I am able to use the reply button on other device(Older iPhones versus iPads)
11) could we get bigger windows for composing our comments?

1. Is this specifically on DDP or Search? What sections specifically bother you?
2. This is not available in the new experience, and you'd have to go to your notifications under your username to do this. But I understand your request: You would like easier access to notifications and to be quickly read your notifications without interrupting your flow.
3. What specifically do you hate about the design?
4. We made the font darker for the titles on list view. Where are you having issues with your font being lighter?
5. Introducing a gallery mode for our thumbnails will be coming back soon. On our feature list.
6. Our ads changing quickly -- are you referring to the right hand side with the ads? These are 3rd party providers and we can't control what shows up or offer bookmarks to those ads. I'm not sure I fully understood -- what makes reading comments more difficult with this new design?
7. It likely feel like that as you're reading through comments because we're taking you back up to the top of the page and scrolls you back down to the comments -- it shouldn't do that. It's a a bug and we're fixing it.

12. This experiment should have only been rolled out to existing Redesign users. Hopefully you weren't in that cohort?
From my limited understanding (I'm not a dev nor engineer) the platform for classic is so antiquated it's just more and more difficult to work on and we cannot bring many features that are on redesign onto classic, it's hard to fix things on classic etc. It's come to a time of just absolute necessity to migrate over and doing it in stages while we collect feedback on how we can make the move as smooth for all of you as possible.
I associate it with loving an old '65 hotrod... great cars, we love them but they cannot be modified to handle all of the newer safety features, many electronic upgrades and such.
We are really hoping for some specific things you all need to make life in redesign not only bearable but enjoyable
Not all of the suggestions will be able to be implemented but we do want this to work, so all suggestions will be seriously looked in to.
