FROM NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR DR. JASON FUNG • "The doctor who invented intermittent fasting." —The Daily Mail

"Dr. Fung reveals how [type 2 diabetes] can be prevented and also reversed using natural dietary methods instead of medications … This is an important and timely book. Highly recommended." —Dr. Mark Hyman, author of The Pegan Diet

"Dr. Jason Fung has done it again. … Get this book!" —Dr. Steven R. Gundry, author of The Plant Paradox

Everything you believe about treating type 2 diabetes is wrong. Today, most doctors, dietitians, and even diabetes specialists consider type 2 diabetes to be a chronic and progressive disease—a life sentence with no possibility of parole. But the truth, as Dr. Fung reveals in this groundbreaking book, is that type 2 diabetes is reversible.

Writing with clear, persuasive language, Dr. Fung explains why conventional treatments that rely on insulin or other blood-glucose-lowering drugs can actually exacerbate the problem, leading to significant weight gain and even heart disease. The only way to treat type 2 diabetes effectively, he argues, is proper dieting and intermittent fasting—not medication.

"The Diabetes Code is unabashedly provocative yet practical ... a clear blueprint for everyone to take control of their blood sugar, their health, and their lives."—Dr. Will Cole, author of Intuitive Fasting

TLDR insulin bad; fasting reverses type 2 diabeetus

I haven't read the book but I watch his YouTube lectures. I do rolling 36 fasts sometimes 48-72. I ate 3 costco bags of jellies bellies. couldn't kick the habit. Felt like shit after eating anything. Fasting broke that cycle.

The answer is always reducing carbs. A1c had crept up to 8.2, so I went back to seriously cutting carbs. Was down to 5.8 in two months. Lost weight too.

Gives me some hope. Had a health scare and found out I have high BP, A1C above 10, and high cholesterol. Immediately changed diet and adding exercise. I know how and what to eat. It's just a matter of actually doing it!

I remember when I was young, like in my teens, seeing something about eating like hunter and gatherer for two months reverses diabetes. Apparently there was a study about it but didn't hear much about it after since there was no money to be made by the pharma industry

It's probably because the study didn't replicate.

Everyone yells about pharma burying things that don't make them money, but the real answer is that a lot of drugs make things easier and people in general like the easy path.

I recommend, if you can afford, get CGM meter from freelibre for three months. Use that to see what food spikes you, write that down. People were saying erithotol was fine sugar substitute. Eventhough it was not spiking for lot of people. the spike was as steep as sugar for me, monkfruit and stevia were fine. Also the bread in US vs when I traveled to Turkey, Greece (mediterrinian) were completely different, with US having the higher spike due to processed food may be?

Take care, please don't lose your feet, arm, leg, eye sight etc. If diabetes just killed me, i wont care. but it will make you suffer until the end.

Also this is a diet disease ... modern medication will help but without proper diet, it will get worse faster.

A1C is good to know, but my suggestion to you and anyone else, test your insulin. Although at 10 your A1C tells the story, it's just decades too late. Insulin is the bad guy. Glucose and A1C are easy gauges to read, but insulin levels are what need to be managed. On paper I was metabolically healthy with a 5.4 A1C. I was not. My insulin was over 36. Insulin should be 3-8. If you eat low/no carb, walk after meals, and avoid overprocessed foods, you can bring that insulin down and save yourself. But if you manage only by A1C and glucose, you'll struggle to actually get your health back.
