They won't have any more. Stanley Black & Decker is closing their Texas facility that manufactured these. This is why some folks are interested in purchasing this set. I suppose for the collectability or nostalgia. Some folks will never open them and keep them sealed, I'm sure. I plan on picking up a set as I need one at work for general use.

I picked up one of these and one of the 59 piece sets from Ft. Worth. Never even opened them. They're in the closet, not the shop. We'll see how they look in 10 years 😁

Not necessarily that great a set per the reviews due to the sockets. At least a good warning to check your set early since these won't be available later...

Maybe when they have better choices in a set, I'll look at the Craftsman USA stuff again. But square ratchets that hurt your hands and oversized heads that make them feel top-heavy just aren't good design choices.

Also, why only the longer extensions? This whole set seems a little off and they might do better later.

They won't have any more. Stanley Black & Decker is closing their Texas facility that manufactured these. This is why some folks are interested in purchasing this set. I suppose for the collectability or nostalgia. Some folks will never open them and keep them sealed, I'm sure. I plan on picking up a set as I need one at work for general use.

Yeah, the quality is apparently lacking. Which is one reason that I've read as to why they closed the US facility. They just couldn't get the results they were hoping for.

Main reason I posted this was for the US made* Craftsman novelty. They didn't make much and who knows if they will ever try to make 'em here again.

There should be plenty of USA sets out there so not sure that Craftsman would ever be rare. At least in terms of finding them used or at garage sales. My USA set is probably not much more than 15 years old.

It's rare in the sense that it's the first Made In USA set since it was 'brought back/renewed', and kind of nostalgic/sad because it's probably the last time it's going to happen.. even though Milwaukee is doing some now too.

Big part of the problem (not just the quality control @ Craftsman USA) is trying to produce these to a price point. Yes, you can make tools in the US... but the market for a $30-45 pair of premium USA-made pliers (like you can get from Milwaukee now) is smaller than the market for $20 5-pair set of (chinese) pliers/cutters.

I never had an issue with paying a premium for "made in the USA". But the quality just wasn't there anymore.

Was lucky enough and bought my Craftsmen's mechanic tool set from Sears when it was all still usa made. I miss Sears.
