The 3 ton is more expensive at 150 but weighs 78 lbs. This one weighs 105. Big difference and you will feel it as well 😀

Never really understood why people consider buying a floor jack for oil changes. If you go through the effort of doing your own oil changes, invest in ramps. Much easier, and usually safer too.

Sure, in some vehicles you might only slightly need to raise one side, but still. To each their own, of course.

Is it made by the same manufacture as Arcan? They look about the same.

I searched for these and stumbled upon a 3-ton, lighter jack, and slightly shorter, from them: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Maasd.../314137063

This isn't as great of a savings but seems like a good deal.

Is the 3 ton model better or worse because it's lighter weight?
Pick it up to move it somewhere when you need to and you'll find your answer. The 3 ton also starts off lower than the 3.5. Which is another + to me for lower cars. Not much lower but still lower.

Do people generally put a different pad on the saddle on a jack like this? Maybe something with a slot for pinch welds?
All cars are slightly different some pinch wields are stronger (newer cars)

But its a good train of thought imo to avoid pinch welds unless no other choice. Find a part of the sub-frame or stronger lifting point.

this or Arcan from Costco or Daytona?
I'd go with Arcan. Light weight and reliable. I own 3 ton rated Arcan aluminum floor jack for 10 years now still holding strong. I own 2 SUVs till I traded one for a sedan recently. So yes, it serves me well lifting heavy vehicles all these years.

Masadaam 3ton from Home Depot is currently on sale for 129 as well. I wish the 3 ton husky is 129 as well. I can't even lift the 105lbs for this 3.5 lol

I bought two. I'm going to start doing my own oil. Getting it done at Walmart it become too much of a pain in the ass. My plan for these two Jacks is to jack up both front wheels after putting the emergency brake on and some blocks behind the rear wheel. Then I can get under there and do everything real quick and let the jacks down to make it flat and get the oil out. Then jack back up and get under there again and finish. Pros tell me if there's a flaw in my plan.

I need to figure out what oil pan is best asap.
Get some ramps. Way easier and faster for oil changes. Plus your oil plug is likely in the back of the pan. Leaving it on ramps will help it drain to the hole. You are going to make it way more difficult and way more dangerous than it needs to be.

A few reasons

You will see a lot of these at track days. Like most things what are you going to use it for and what do you value.
I originally bought my plastic ramps (not sure of brand) in 2008. I still use them today. I bought them because I needed to lift the rear wheels of my truck so my race car would clear while loading on my trailer. Nifty trick if you haven't seen it done before.

This reminded me that I needed to upgrade my 10+ year craftsman jack (still does the job, but is not rated for my SUV). I decided to pay more and get the steel and aluminum Arcan jack from Costco instead - prefer it to be lighter and I consider it a safety item.

Fast jacking, huh?
Pumping jack iron lol. I guess you'll need to haul it at one point in your life but for my purpose it will roll under the car and then roll back into the garage. This will replace a 20yr old Pittsburgh that I bought at pep boys.

My ramps are from like 25 years ago.
