This has been in the news quite a bit, and confirmed [twitter.com]that the final blu-rays and dvds Netflix ships to you on 9/29 do not have to be returned. Beyond this, they MAY send you up to TEN free additional discs from your queue.

I've been a subscriber for over 20 years, so here's how could this work for you:
  • Signup for a 1, 2, or 3 disc plan ($10/$15/$20) month on Sep 1. Enjoy some rentals and send them back.
  • In the last week, clear out your queue so they can't send you anything else.
  • Last few days, load up your queue with 11-13 titles* and see what happens.
*I have a strong suggestion for the titles. There's a reason I have a well-used account here even though I have great internet and zero nostalgia factor for discs. It's the selection. So go to town on finding the obscure gems from your fav directors and actors - LOTS of stuff is not only not available on streaming but actually out of print too, but Netflix has some copies. Grab some before they hit the landfill.

Eh, I've migrated to 4K Blu-rays, which Netflix has never offered. Free is free, though.
