I had the misfortune of getting this (w/32GB RAM) as a work laptop from our IT department. It's definitely a very specific use case device of cramming the highest performance silicone in a cheapest possible package with obvious compromises. Essentially a desktop PC in a notebook form factor. "Thin" it is most definitely not.

Downside includes: fans at full blare even for basic productivity tasks, gets way too hot to place anywhere near your lap, abysmal battery life, and terrible keyboard/touchpad/display. Bad thermals also means the thing throttles a lot, too. The lone USB Type-C port is data only w/out DP Alt mode or PD capability. Also, the proprietary AC adapter is bigger than your typical brick.

Positives: you can play most games you throw at it, assuming you can keep it properly cooled. Cheap. A notebook equivalent of Dodge Neon SRT.

Isn't the RTX 4050 being wasted with only 8GB of RAM?

Actually, mobile RTX 3060 is superior to RTX 4050.

Yeah, desktop versions are more powerful than laptop versions. Rtx 4050 Win by 6% over the 3060 laptop version. We could consider they have the same power.

Putting the word "gaming" in a name doesn't make it gaming.
The 4050 performs close to a desktop RTX2060 graphics card. That is a gaming graphics card and will allow you to play most games out there on high settings at 1080p with good fps.

I guess this might theoretically be slightly thinner than other MSI laptops, but if you actually want "thin" you probably don't want MSI

disappointed at no number pad in a 15.6" laptop, s'why i went with someone else over msi (despite having previously owned a refurbed ge40 2pc dragon eyes that was awesome (except for the usual hinge breaking issue) and eventually sold for barely less than i paid..as a blu-ray enthusiast, i miss having a built-in optical drive though)
