Male = capital of Maldives where the airport is.

Me and the wife were seriously considering going here for our tenth anniversary next year. It looks really nice. The only caveat is flying out of Atlanta to Maldives takes over 24 hours one way!!! Maybe once we retire, but like the wife said "over 48 hours in the air doesn't feel too vacationy" :-)

Just came back from the Maldives last week. It's DEFINITELY a lot of traveling, and not a convenient place to get to. But the resorts and Maldives themselves were beautiful.

Thanks OP, we were actually looking at that exact hotel recently but it's not good for 4 people (2 kids). No rooms with two beds, just King + side bed, whatever that means.

Choke up the money for business class. I used to have to travel internationally for work occasionally and have done long trips. Between having a lounge at layover airport, laying flat to sleep on plane to better food, it's worth it. The longer the flight the more it makes sense. Especially if you can redeem with credit card.

I'm looking at this type of trip but probably can't go until 2025

Think with 24 hour flights, you'd have to stack multiple 5 day stays to make it worth it. This doesn't include time to get to and from the airports and resort. For that much travel I'd consider at least 2 weeks. Still working with kids so a no go for me. But for wealthy retirees, seems pretty nice.

We went to Maldives for our honeymoon years ago. It's definitely super beautiful and still the most memorable place of all the travels I have done.

This deal is for 5 nights at the resort, so you need to plan out at least 2 or 3 days extra on top of the the 5 nights at the resort. And it's best to combine if you are traveling to Asia at the same time (shorter flight from Asia to Maldives). The complication is that you have to fly international to Male first (capital city, where airport is). And take domestic flight (very small plane, think of Indiana Jones) or boat to your destination island). Years ago when we went, there were quite a lot of retirees and most of them usually stay for 2 weeks per trip. I personally think 5 nights is plenty. 2 weeks is fine for a more relaxing trip. After 2 weeks, it may become boring for most city folks like me.

Maldives is on my bucket list for sure. However as mentioned in other posts, the flight time kills. We went to French Polynesia (Tahiti, Mo'orea, Bora Bora) and it's just as beautiful with much shorter flight times (8-hour non-stop out of LAX to Tahiti, then 1-2 hr island hop flight/boat scenic transfer). Much more relaxing vacation in my opinion.

Also not only is it a very very long travel trip, the airline prices were insane last time I also looked from ATL to there and back. While the $3k-$4k prices all inclusive look very tempting, it becomes double or more than double that pretty quick with airfare out of ATL.
