Well since you work in a feeling's factory I can see how that may be a problem. If there are people sensitive to noise then they are special needs and should work from home or find another job. Someone talking will be louder then a keyboard. This makes no sense.

It's a decent keyboard. Have owned multiple corsair brown k70 , razer, and other higher end boards. I like this one can be cleaned inbetween the keys and the media wheel. Purchased on Amazon warehouse for $50 before which was basically brand new. .. $70 seems fair.

Your easy to clean comment sold me. My current logitech keyboard has like a garbage cans worth of debris in it that's extremely difficult to get out.
However its unfortunate this has no usb port.
Any deals on a mouse to go with this?

Here's the version with a detachable USB cord (no num keys on this):
https://www.amazon.com/ROCCAT-Vulcan-Compact-Optical-Keyboard/dp/B08J4DGBB9/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=opti... [amazon.com]

I've been heavily researching keyboards this week and while I've always had a full keyboard in years past I'm realizing that it would make more sense for me to go with a keyboard without the num pad keys and buy a separate USB num pad which I can put near my monitor when I need to use it. My keyboard tray on my desk is too cramped with my mouse. I don't know why I never thought of that before. lol

This keyboard SOUNDS really good (watching youtube videos). The spacebar is locked down very nicely. The key presses sound wonderful (not obnoxiously loud). The one possible negative is that the keycaps are not Double Shot PBT. You could replace the keycaps but you will lose the secondary functions written on some of the keys (like the insert button says its also thee print screen button. good luck finding keycaps with the same exact text on it). Also, replacing the keycaps will most likely change the sound of the keys. The spacebar might also be a non-standard size. I have to double check that.

EDIT: One of the reviewers says: "Spacebar is 6.25u not 6.5u like most keyboards.". So the spacebar is a non-standard, smaller size. If buying replaceable keycaps, keep that in mind.

If you purchase directly from ROCCAT, during checkout use promo code: ROCCAT10 to get 10% off your order. They offer free shipping too.

I bought the regular Vulcan for the same price a few weeks ago and love it. I kinda wish I had got this one because I heard the mechanical switches tend to develop issues after a year, and the optical ones don't.

Not enough marketing keywords in the name of this keyboard.

Here's a video of the TKL (mechanical switches) vs the TKL Pro (optical switches). The optical switch version is on the top.
https://youtu.be/EYNxsKe6JYk?feat...ared&t=205

The optical switch version sounds what keyboard enthusiasts would call "Thocky". Deeper, rich, keyboard sound. Nice.

I have both tactile and linear versions of Vulcan. These keyboards are best ones I have owned so far. I have 7 mechanical keyboards but Vulcan is always my favorite one!

It sounds like you own the mechanical version seen here: https://www.roccat.com/products/vulcan-tkl

I did so much research on keyboards this week. I was so close to creating my own keyboard. Buying a barebones keyboard, buying keycaps, and buying mechanical switches, and installing them all. I wasn't aware of optical switches. Then I started to read about their better latency vs mechanical and their better durability. I like the design of this keyboard. I can't wait to receive it. Thanks for sharing your experience!

yes, quoting for emphasis

with off the shelf keycap kits i've had to shove some saran wrap to get the spacebar level, but it still sticks on keypress sometimes.

I hate people using mechanical keyboards in office. Some people just don't care other people's feeling, because there are people who are very sensitive to noises.
don't worry they probably hate you too with ignorant statements like this

I got the tactile version a couple days ago from this deal and the keyboard is great. Has just the right tactile feel and audible feedback, but not too much. Very solid feeling. And it looks like I finally have a solution to my keys getting blocked by crumbs lol. This is super easy to keep clean. So far I love it.

How necessary is the software for this keyboard? My company's system is strictly locked down. Wonder if generic keyboard driver alone allows keyboard functions like volume and lighting.

People don't usually change what works. I would switch all keys expect the ones with multi functions on them. If only I didn't have six working keyboards already and i really want the wooting keyboard for gaming.
