I love the A/V world. No matter what level you're looking at there's someone there to tell you it's shit.
Definitely beats a sound bar. If you are replacing a sound bar with this you are in for a real treat. Watch some videos about setting up home theaters and multi sub, calibration etc on YouTube.
I was wanting something of a basic home audio system that is more than just a sound bar. snagged this earlier today.

Should I go for this option or a full Sonos configuration, namely the Arc, two Ones, and a Gen 3 subwoofer? This is for a home theater project in a room with a high vaulted ceiling. I already have the Sonos system I described, installed in my living room, but I'm looking for a setup for my home theater

Yeah its been a very long time since i've heard "real speakers". a sound bar, PC speakers, and a bose car audio system is an insult. i have some pretty good headphones, but listening to headphones feels like an insult for some music.
625FAs are definitely worth the extra $50 over this bundle that had the 26FAs last month... Do wish they'd do a RP bundle sale like they had last year.

It comes down to whether you want to go through the work and cost for the better sound quality or not.
If you chose better SQ, I would suggest not using enabled modules like these have with vaulted ceilings.

Thanks for your input. I should clarify that I'm not aiming for the absolute best sound quality. For instance, I'm not looking to install ceiling speakers. I'm not into DIY, and while I appreciate the simplicity of the Sonos system, I'm not particularly invested in their ecosystem. I don't intend to spend $10,000. I'm seeking a future-proof option with decent sound quality. I understand that "decent" is subjective, but I'm quite satisfied with my current Sonos. However, this alternative is more cost-effective in my view. I'm curious about how they compare.

for a high or vaulted ceiling, I'm sorry, but I can't technically recommend either configuration you mention. if (and specifically if) you want atmos height effects. these klipsch front speakers are designed for ceiling bounce and assumes no higher than 7' ceilings. the sonos systems i've heard are kind of crap compared to a real home theater system like this though. What I would do is look for a deal with stand-alone atmos height speakers OR, if you don't mind spending just a little more for a big improvement to the height speaker situation, you could buy this klipsch deal, simply not hook up the height speakers on the r-625fa's, and buy a second set of r-41m bookshelf speakers (the same as what they give you in this deal for rears, and use THOSE for height (as they'll match the acoustics of the rest of the set, they should provide good results, just place them roughly 6.5-7' above the front left and front right speakers. having real speakers for height makes a world of difference anyhow, it's a pretty nice upgrade.
How does something like this compare to the Samsung 990C Soundbar that is on sale right now for 1499.99? especially if i am looking for primaraily something that takes up less space sound amazing and is easier to deal with when moving

They are completely different. These towers are huge compared to a sound bar. A home theater set up will sound far better than a sound bar, it's not even a comparison. If your going to be moving them get the soundbar for now. Klipsch is usually not the best money for sound quality unless you get the reference premium line when it's on a real sale.
This will still blows you away though compared to your TV speakers.

I have a similar home theater system to this, maybe a step below as I only have 1 sub but I prefer the speakers. Irregardless, I also had the Samsung 990b for a couple of weeks before returning it. I'm assuming there aren't many changes between generations, but they weren't even in the same league. I'm far from an audiophile but the soundbar drivers just can't come close to the fullness of proper bookshelf speakers. Same goes for the Samsung included sub.
Now based on your last sentence, if you only want something small without wires then a soundbar might make more sense for you. They're not comparable products, imo. One is more simple to setup while the other is delivering sound quality on a whole different level.
