These vitamins have only shown to be effective in slowing down the progression of moderate to advanced macular degeneration. If you have not been diagnosed with macular degeneration, then these vitamins are of little to no benefit to you.

Isn't it way cheaper just to buy Lutein and Zeaxanthin separately?

Lutein does help people with low macular pigment levels even if they don't have macular degenerations.

Yes, this has very little of those supplements, which are the only ones that really benefit the eyes. The costco stuff is much better: https://www.costco.com/trunature-...03048.html

If you have a family history of macular degeneration and are just under the age of 50, I would think it's a good idea to start taking this now even if you may have not been diagnosed with it yourself?

I wouldn't buy any of these pills on Amazon. I've been buying the Areds 2 version for my father who has MD and yesterday Amazon sent me an email asking us to throw out the product and was refunded for all of this years purchases due to the pills being counterfeit and they were all sold and Shipped by Amazon.

So, of course, my father can't throw them out as he's been taking 2 a day of God knows what! for the past 9 months 🤬 and only had half a bottle left from the last order.

Wouldn't trust any vitamins from Amazon. They looked completely legit, carton, bottle and pills.

I'm sure they found some counterfeit in the batch but couldn't be sure who got sent what. Odds are your father has been taking legit pills. But I agree it's not worth the risk.

That's only the original AREDS2 formulation, which this is not.

Lutein is converted to Zeaxanthin and the more helpful meso-zeaxanthin.
