Got the B&H deal last time. Good brightness but HDR performance is not good. SDR is excellent. But most streaming movies are HDR but turning HDR off on my FireTV will narrow the contrast range too much. HDR can't be disabled on projector. Turning HDR off on projector only turning off processing so it looks terrible. Currently looking at turning off via HDMI EDID information. 3D movies can't be streamed, only via blu-ray player.

I have this projector and I'm happy with it. Image is great, just set your expectations. Do not think you're going to be able to watch extremely dark content in your living room with no blinds and the sun shining in through the windows.

I have an ALR screen and 50% shade blinds, not blackout blinds. Using a light meter app with my blinds closed at the brightest time of day I measure around 20 FC. This is a well lit room, but not super bright. I just watched the new Flash movie in this room at this light level. The scene where super girl is outside for the first time looks awesome. The dark scenes inside the bat cave the blacks look grey and you won't be able to see some of the shadow detail.

After dark with lights out everything looks great. Sports are good to watch any time of day. This is the same price as their bulb protectors, so the laser is hands down better and a no brainer if that's what you are considering. If you want to pay $3K for the 5050UB then that's going to obviously be better at twice the price.

The other thing to be aware of is that zoom is very limited on this projector and it has no shift, so you need to place it very precisely.

I'd say, if you are in the market for a living room projector and you can place this one where it needs to be, at this price it's a very good option. If you are dropping tons of money in a dedicated home theater room then maybe probably should spend 5K and get the new Epson laser or even more $$ and get a jvc

Can you explain why 3D streaming doesn't work? When I stream 3D from Vudu or YouTube it's usually just side-by-side. Is there no option to view side-by-side content as 3D on this projector?

I have been a projector user for 14 years now. Moving from bulb to UHZ45 laser was such a premium feel and relief. I love the HDR picture quality; to get the best HDR quality you need to set the HDR brightness to 100. Once this setting change is done then HDR is truly wonderful. The relief is due to the fact you no longer have to worry about bulb for next 5 years.

This projector has 1 year warranty and 5 year on laser. If you buy this using a credit card like chase sapphire preferred then you get additional warranty for 1 more year.

Don't buy from anywhere other than Amazon else you have to pay return shipping.

Correct. The projector has no input 3D format choices at all. It needs the player to detect the input format and then change the HDMI resolution and speed that the projector can handle and send the correct 3D signal over. I think the 3D support is at it's last breath and manufacturers are cutting 3D support to the barebone. I found a user at avsforums that can stream YouTube 3D videos on a lowly Sony BDP-S6700 Blu ray player so I bought a more recent Sony UBP-X800M2 thinking that it should be better but no, it's got less apps and couldn't even stream one 3D video from YouTube. Then I bought that S6700 and indeed I was able to steam ONE 3D video. I think this is because that video was formatted correctly. The same video fails to display 3D on the other Sony nor any of my streaming android boxes, include Firestick TV max, the latest one and mibox s, the older one. There are many supposedly 3D YouTube videos but so far none that I tried worked even with the S6700. So streaming 3D is pretty bleak. Downloaded 3D files is a little better in that you need to use ffmpeg to inject the metadata or re-encode with Frame-Packing. After that, the file can again only be played from a Blu-ray player. Kodi won't work. Blu-ray 3Ds from the blu-ray player are beautiful though. So for better 3D streaming, get an older projector.
