This or the AVR-X3800H? I'm a complete novice with no experience with Dirac or Audessey.
Both units have their pluses and minus. Overall the RZ50 has received a lot of high praise from professional review sites. Plus there is no additional charge to upgrade to Dirac. The onkyo also allows multiple ways to to a Dirac calibration (App which is easy or REW which is a lot more involved). With the denon you could spend up to $950 for the various Dirac modules and a calibration mic which is required for the denon.
You should read up on both in the AVR forums, a lot better info there than here on SD. There is also a bunch of info there showing that some of the denon components used in the 3800 series are of lower quality than the previous 3700 model. how much of a difference depends on your sensitivity to things like that.

It depends on your expectations and priorities.
This does not give you preouts, 2 subouts are mono, this does not give you both Audyssey & Dirac, you only pay for Dirac if you want to with Denon.
Dirac is baked into the price on this and it only offers Dirac loudspeakers RC(Dirac Live).
It will not offer Dirac subwoofer RC(Dirac Live Bass Control), the 3800 will next year.
Dirac is very good especially when you incorporate DLBC, crucial IMO.

Anyone interested in DIRAC. I set this receiver up last week, and during the initial setup (which is mostly easy), it will give you the option to calibrate DIRAC with the Onkyo App. Don't do this. The app sucks. I tried multiple times. It kept failing, loosing connection, reporting errors. Tried Googling a solution, and pretty much every forum confirmed the app is just a dumpster fire. So I downloaded the software directly from DIRAC's website on my laptop. You'll have to create an account, but it's free to download. It immediately recognized my receiver and works flawlessly.
TL/DR: Don't setup DIRAC with Onkyo's app. Get the software from DIRAC.

there is another option which is great for those that want good Dirac results and a fast setup. That is to use the Dirac Live App (Not the Windows/Mac software).

I saw that, but I didn't download it b/c the app has really bad reviews in the App Store. Though a lot of them could be user error, or folks mad that their equipment doesn't support it. Next time I need to re-adjust, I'll give it a try.

I have seen a lot of people mess up the first step (master volume setup). And that causes a lot of errors during the setup process. Definitely user error.

If you have no preference, on a budget, Dirac is a high priority & don't need preouts this definitely fits the bill!
