This game is great (as an old JRPG fan). But if you are new to the JRPG genre, there is quite a deep learning curve. (also, square enix is the company that makes final fantasy series and dragon quest series. this game is a bit closer to dragon quest than final fantasy)

I hope the learning curve is not to to deep because I just hit the purchase button and have been eyeing this game since the first one came out and I passed on that one.

Wasn't this buy 1 get 1 free before? Or maybe that was PS. Seems like normal price.

I believe it was only for the ps4 version. If it was for the switch version, I would have bought two.

I tried played the first one on my commute to work, and I literally couldn't get any play time in because of the long cut scenes. Did I play it wrong?

I played the first one but I was not able to progress anything at all. I read that it doesn't matter which path i chose, the outcome would be the same. Is this better and particularly easier than the first one? I really wanted to play this game but the learning curve is tooooooo deep.

Lol same. Get like watching a movie and then walking to a different place to watch more! Smilie never even got to dive in.

It's a little bit easier in my opinion, but not dramatically so. There was a lot of small quality of life changes that really added up and improved some of the more tedious aspects of the first game, though.

The first character you pick matters in that they are a permanent member of your party (and will therefore be the highest level) until you complete all portion of their story, but you play through all 8 characters' eventually, so it doesn't matter that much.
