I'm a big fan of Reverend and bought this model last year. It feels and plays great. Compared to the Fender Player Plus series (Player Plus, not Player), I believe this guitar is a much better value. The build quality is nicer, the small parts (pots, string tree, etc.) are a bit nicer, and the pickups are much, much better. I have guitars with Fishman Fluence single coil and P90 pickups; the lack of noise is fantastic, while the multiple voicings add some versatility.
On a side note, Gil is a great player and a really nice guy.

Tell me you know nothing about these guitars without telling me you know nothing about these guitars.
For $1.2K I'd rather get a pre-owned American made Strat, there are a lot of options out there for this price - American Deluxe, Ultra, Elite, signature models (Ymgwie, Clapton), etc.

Aria is another brand you probably won't pay $500 for but do some research on Reverend and you will understand why they can charge the premium that they do
Thanks for the deal OP.

That said, I'm boring and have Fenders, Gibsons, and an Ibanez.

Buying new from Sweetwater, you're getting a 2-year warranty.
In the case of this deal, Fishman Fluence pickups are a great option, not found in those other Fenders. Reverend makes its guitars in Korea and inspects them in the USA. The build quality will exceed MiM Fenders and even American models if you follow the quality control issues Fender has shown recently. Five hundred off is a great deal for this guitar. I own a Reverend. Unless someone needs the Fender name, and many of us have those, too, Reverend is a better guitar at the $1,200-$1,500 price point.

Edit - I had the original Gil Parris, didn't look anything like a Strat, more like their Double Agent model.

Call me old fashioned, but, if someone cares enough about the instrument as a builder, give it a good case. I understand at a certain price point that's unrealistic, but, is $1500 or even $3000 where we are now with that?
My MIM Chrissie Hynde Tele, by all means a very well-made instrument, came with a case at a $929 price point
EDIT: To your point about being a dealbreaker, I agree and I don't let it alone stop me from making a purchase. I usually pick up good b-stock, open box, or excellent or better condition used hard cases when I can. But if most other things being equal, it's definitely a selling point for me.
