Question: how do these more recent Legion Pro laptops compare versus Alienware, Asus, etc? I never know quite what to think.

They seem like durable tanks for build quality when I have hands-on, but then I read here and on a few forums that after 1-2 years they have a lot of problems with failing usb ports/displays/components. I also like that Legion laptops aren't too obnoxious with the rgb and gamer bling, but they also aren't anywhere near as cool looking as an Alienware, MacBook Pro (and the clones) etc.

Ultimately this is rich for my wallet, but damn if the specs on this thing aren't nailing or exceeding everything I'd want right now in a gaming laptop.

- 16x10 QHD screen w/ 500 nits and HDR too? Whoa. 4k is great, but this is a LOT easier to drive and the gpu should be solid for the next 3-5 years of gaming.

- mobile rtx 4090 is roughly equivalent to a desktop 3080ti/3090ti which is plenty of muscle for the screen and even able to run 4k if you connect it to a separate display

- 32gb ddr 5600 and 2TB pcie 4.0 ssd = fast and no skimpy cost cutting.

- 99Whr battery and per key rgb w/ numpad = yes please

- 13900HX = top-of-the-line mobile performance

- icing on the cake is the 3 months of Gamepass Ultimate allowing the proud new Legion owners to play Starfield at high end settings on a 4k display at launch.

All things considered, this fuggin' thing is a beast. If I was a lil' richer or it was $500 cheaper, I'd be strongly considering this thing versus a Framework or whatever other deal I eventually scrounge up.

After applying the coupon, it comes out to $2511 (before tax). Almost an extra $200 savings. Thinking of puling the plug on this one.

Really liked this model when saw in store! From reviews built well and has good thermals cooling compared to other gaming laptops. Only thing missing is a Mini LED display which Asus M16 has.

It's on the front page

"$2699.99 $3599.99 after applying the coupons INTELGAMERDAYS23 at checkout.

You can get a further discount of 10% if you verify with id.me -> This bring is down to $2385.45..

On top of that, there's a 10% cashback ($238.54) offer from other site which bring it down even further to $2146.90. Can't beat this deal with all the savings.

So my prior generation Pro 5 has been an absolutely astounding machine. The current gen of the pro 5 does seem to have lowered quality a bit, I'm not sure how that translates to the Pro 7. Namely they went to a plastic bottom which reduces both thermals and build quality. But as someone who has bought caddillac laptops for over a decade now this is hands down the best one I have ever owned. It just ticks every box. Fast, good battery life, great thermals, great build quality, solid keyboard, the only trackpad I have ever been willing to use even on a temporary basis, screen is stunning etc.

I tagged you for that, but you also mentioned it being a little cheaper. There is a reputable (as in I have cash 10+k dollar checks from them) cash back website doing 10% right now on Lenovo. So that's about half your $500 reduction.

Also fwiw because of thermal throttling you won't see the exact step down at these specs you might expect by going slightly lower tier. At the end of the day the chassis can only expel so many watts of heat so fast and the higher up the power chain you go (especially with the Intel CPU) the worst the heat issues will become on your performance gains.

Comparing this laptop to the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 ($1500 deal at Best Buy - Slickdeals Link), can I justify spending an extra $700 (final pricing after promo codes and cashback offers, it comes to be around $2200) for this laptop or would it just be better getting the M16?

Pulling the plug is what your wife/GF is going to do when you spend too much time on this thing or they find out how much it was, lol 😆

This is a solid deal, do we think it'll get a lot cheaper around BF though?
