Even though these are entry-level brushed M18 tools, it's a good price for good quality tools. I bought a very similar kit as an introduction to Milwaukee about 5 years ago, renovated 2 complete houses with them and they continue to work well. I have since upgraded to better tools in the M18 line, but these still do the job just fine. I still prefer them over buying brushless tools from a cheaper name like Ryobi.

What does it mean to "hack" it to $275.43 -- and how do you do it?

Purchase the item and add the free battery and then return the battery to get a refund for it

that impact is still my fav...got one 10 years ago and dropped it 100 times, still going strong and has tons of torque. the hackzall is lighter than the fuel version too, good for pruning trees. I already have them all, but would buy another hackzall and impact to keep at the cabin...debating haha

I have all of these. As a homeowner I liked them all except the circular saw. Too easy to stall it out. That said if you're only do handyman jobs it's fine. Not to mention a cheap corded backup saw with x2 the power is only $40.

100% noticeable. Non fuel tool sucks if you're a professional. We have a couple of non fuel impact, they might as well be paper weight.

FUEL is their high end brushless models. Usually they are more powerful and more power efficient. Many FUEL tools are the best not only in the M12 and M18 lines but compared to other brands as well.

It's a huge difference on some tools. And it usually isn't obvious in the specs. You'd basically have to try out each one to know, or alternatively only buy their FUEL stuff which is almost always good to go.

If you want just 1 example, I have both non-FUEL and 2nd gen FUEL M12 drills. Both have the power to run a large 1 1/2" paddle bit through a 4x4. But the non-FUEL will completely drain the 1.5 Ah battery that came with it in 2 holes. The FUEL will probably drill over a dozen similar holes and run for hours drilling smaller holes or pilot holes even with the tiny battery. The runtime difference between the two drills is huge even if their power isn't. Other tools like the ratchet and hackzall are similar but their power difference is big enough to make the non-FUEL versions basically garbage and should have never been brought to market imho.

To be honest, I bought this saw about 5 years ago on sale for ~$20 as a disposable tool for cutting stucco and plaster in a remodel, assuming the dust was likely to ruin the bearings. I have since used it to cut concrete and anything else I don't want to risk my better tools on, and it still work great. A cheap, 120v corded 7 1/4 circular saw is indispensable for DIY remodeling.

While fuel is better I don't think I can get fuel version of these tools anywhere near 293.91 including tax after the return of the battery. Note that you can cancel the extra battery as soon as you order it. If someone knows or has a link to a comparable price on fuel share the link please because the best price I could find was through Walmart but i don't know about buying Milwaukee through Walmart site but sold through third party but if anyone is interested this is the best price I could find for Milwaukee tool set similar to this 700https://www.walmart.com/ip/Milwau...GjEALw_wcB

curious why its 275. it says the free gift battery is 179. Wouldnt that make it $220 for the whole kit? And also would they give you trouble returning this to original payment method? or does it need to be store credit? do they care that it is a hack?
