It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990

I have a question. What happens 3 or 4 years down the line when the battery health is down like the phones we use. Do you pay to get the batteries replaced or is there some kind of coverage? Been wanting to get an EV but holding myself back thinking what happens next.

Well by your standards it is fast because it does 9s 1/4 miles....Does your S4 do 9s 1/4 mile with a tune??? Also 166mph limited top speed arrives in 14s. Ugly car but I'd say fast.
I don't deny that it's fast and never have I claimed that my S4 is fast. The plaid is not "the fastest car ever made" period. I like the plaid but glorifying it as the "fastest car ever made" is just stupid.

Probably a good deal for those wanting to upgrade their model Y to a base X. If only I was in the market, but my model Y is too new.

They last a lot longer than that https://insideevs.com/news/664106...rage-2022/

But yes, you could get it replaced, and yes it has a 8 years or +100,000 miles warranty (the exact miles varies by model).

Edit: Number of warranty years and miles, thanks for the corrections.

You laugh but he is correct. The model S Plaid is one of the fastest production cars made so far. Can you name another sedan under $100K that do 0-60 in 2 seconds?
Closest ICE car I can even think is 2023 Porsche Taycan Turbo S
2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S
Price: $187,400
0- 60: 2.6 seconds

I have Model 3 Performance and can tell you for sure the instant power is hard to beat. Its a huge achievement of automotive engineering for sure.

I said it was one of the fastest production sedans, the original poster said it the fastest car ever made. The Tesla engines can be tuned also just by running ghost chips.

There are a lot of electrical car haters out there. The technology with motors for electric cars is superior to ICE and we just started producing them. No maintenance, low center of gravity and weight distribution, instant power its hard to beat. I have Tesla Solar at my house and charge my M3P purely on solar. The car is insanely efficient, I can slam the pedal over and over again and barley drains the battery. I can't say the same for my gas guzzling M model BMW. My point was show me a factory sedan that is under $100K that has the performance the Model S plaid does.
I personally love electric cars, but you stated that he was correct, in which he was not. I agree that it's one of the fastest cars out there and under $100k at that, but saying "the fastest car ever made" is just fanboy talk and gross misinformation.

they should last longer than that but when they do fail you will have regrets about buying the car. it will cost around 20-30k to replace it. that's one of the major downsides of owning a tesla or most ev, tesla won't just replace a damage cell even if battery is damage within 1 or 2 years, they have to replace the entire battery pack with is quite a bill and you better hope the cause of the damage is under warranty and not some sort of negligence driving.

Electric cars aren't for everyone.

Has the U.S. electric car market currently become saturated?

Is Tesla cutting prices because there's actually competition now?

These are legit questions.

I've always been intrigued by the performance aspects of Electrics, but other than the looks of the model S no other Tesla models have ever appealed to me.

I still believe that the power and charging infrastructure, and the current EV battery chemistries aren't even close to mass adoption levels yet. Will all these things eventually happen? Probably.

When will Mass adoption happen? Who knows.

Prices, better battery chemistry, and infrastructure are the only things holding E.V.'s back from taking over, But I think we're still a long way from that happening, and I think these price cuts, and other manufacturers electrics reportedly starting to rot on dealer lots, are a good indication that Electrics aren't quite ready for the mainstream.

Does one get full 7500 tax credit or it's based out of end figure liability?
So if owed 4k, will only that 4k be waived/credit

Also what happened to the new model 3, it's not live for US but for other countries like China, spain?
