It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990
Model S Plaid $89,990

Who doesn't enjoy watching their asset magically depreciate 20-30% in a single day. Must feel really good.
cars... unless collector's item, is never an asset. if you value your money, you should focus on the value it can bring to you at the time of purchase, and that has nothing to do with the MSRP. mistaking MSRP as VALUE is just the way any brand what to brainwash you. back to this particular case... if you ever thought the X is twice the car as Y, or is worth Y + solar system that provides your house energy for the next 30+ years. then.. that value hasn't changed (whatever that is, unless you value definition is MSRP so you can brag you are driving a 110K car vs 55k car)

at least tesla is more up front and reduce prices directly, where as other car brand will reduce the inventory price via things like dealer rebates, market incentives, zero percent APRs and other crap, and force consumer to do research and study for the latest promotion and spend hours to haggle the price. if you find that experience rewarding, then go ahead. but judging by the sales number. tesla's direct to consumer model seem to taking the dealer model market just like online shopping is taking B&M sales. there will always be market for dealership model, but i for one, would never want to go back

This is a good deal for those that can afford. This is just my opinion, but those who can comfortably afford this and want these have already gotten them. Some are likely on to a BMW or Mercedes or Porsche by now. With electric cars being so fast, it is just not about how fast it is about looks and how one feels driving the car, and like it or not, people do like to stand out.

Lucid Air Dream is just as fast
The lucid air dream is 170k starting price and .5 seconds slower than the model s plaid. Model S plaid best bang for the buck. 2 second 0-60 at a cost of 90k.

I'm pretty sure the plaid was going for $130k early last year. That's a big drop in a year and a half.
Thats what I was wondering, I thought it was $139999. Ouch for people who lost over 50K on a vehicle purchase in one year.

Still about $10-15k higher, in the end, model 3 will settle for $35k, model y at 45k and model x for 60k

Because 0-60 is sooooooo important when choosing a car.

That's not at all what he said, and any accelerated loss of value is not good, regardless of asset or liability. No reason to try to re-write a bad story.
So you would buy the consistently the highest depreciating car brand? With a history of consistently screwing over currently owners? Go for it.

ask porsche, BMW, Mercedes, audi (or any of the ICE car brands) how much extra they charge for a 0.5 second faster 0-60 time once it is under 4 seconds.
i am not the target audiance, but to say this doesn't matter when Tesla is doing it but ignore the ICE has been milking it for decades and centuries... just lame.

theres plenty of people who have german cars then get hit by a $5000 repair bill and want to drop it and go to an electric car. The price drop will likely push them over the edge to do so if they want the easiest to own electric car on the planet (model S, because of its range), or the safest family vehicle (model X)

Owning any nice ICE car is a ticking time bomb, you have to get it off your hands before the engine has some $5000 repair bill that youre stuck with. Then you get into sunken cost fallacy, you put $5000 into the engine repair and want to keep it for 2 more years, and then other crap randomly starts failing on the car.

Now is not the time to be buying any depreciating assets, just sit back and watch, more to come.

After rebate, gas, and maintenance, EVs and Hybrids are the cheapest things you can buy. See kbb comparison.

https://www.kbb.com/new-cars/tota...ownership/

But yeah, spending $70k either means you're a car junkie, or you're making around $200k and live in a $1M house.
You do realize families spend 70k on Tahoes pretty commonly now right? I doubt they are all living in 1m dollar houses.

Well, I guess people who bought Tesla last year feel good, some lost as high as 50 percent
and stuck with a car.
