It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990
Model S Plaid $89,990

Ive been a BMW hater my whole life lol..I really only liked the E30 and E36. For me it's always been about a car having bulletproof reliability with fun instead of all-out performance. I am a diehard manual guy (still have it in me to own ONE more) and the options for sedans with a manual are limited now.

I need a little bit more space so cant elect for the CT4 Blackwing. With the B58 having Toyota's approval, to me it means a lot and several BMW models are using that engine since 2015 with good reliability. I think the S58 in the M will be quite solid (knock on wood) since its a beefed up B58. All of the other drivetrain parts in modern cars being plastic does scare me, but at the end of the day...im not just looking for fast. Im looking for build quality, a more aggresive look, handling, and fun as a daily.

I'll try test driving a Plaid, i just dont want to get into an EV so early as I feel there are going to be a lot more options in the near future. Ideally I would like to wait to get into an EV until solid state batteries become a thing...
If you're looking for sheer fun get a Mazda Miata with a stick. It's the best car with a go-kart feel and will give you more fun for your money than some $85k priced BMW that has been biggie sized for Americans and doesn't feel as sporty as one would think.

What do you mean by "pass through IRA $7,500"? I thought it's just a regular credit?
Basically Tesla gets the credit and sells you the car for 7.5k less but today Tesla just pockets the credit and doesn't give it to you if you lease.

Can I expect a used model X for $60k from 2022? Current price is 80k-7.5k tax credit which is like 72.5k. So a used needs to be at least below 60k. May be the 2020 model needs to be 40k at which point i would strongly consider buying this

I'd say another bonus is losing a day at the dealership buying the damn thing. No more "let me talk to the financing department or manager" BS tactics trying to freeze you out in negotiations to take their crappy come back offer. HATE DEALERSHIPS.
Unless they're the ONLY dealer around who has a car I really really want they'll have to chase me down in the parking lot. I get up and leave when they do that.

I also once had a car salesman get so confused he didn't know what to say. We were talking about a car and I don't recall what exactly he said to me but I deadass looked him right in the eyes and said "I don't NEED this car, I just want it." He didn't know how to handle someone who won't stress and will walk away from a deal. If more people had the opportunity to buy cars out of a desire to change vehicles and not a need to replace a failing vehicle the auto industry would change drastically and be more like Tesla with reactive pricing.

Timely thread....

My son in law just pulled into my driveway in his new Model X....

Telsa wasn't even on my radar of possible car purchases until I drove this thing. Any preconceived notions of ICE > electric disappeared the first time I nailed that accelerator.

The G forces alone could sell these cars.

I can sum up the driving experience in in one word: Incredible.

I was looking (actually waiting) for a RAV4 Prime, but for the past hour my web searches have been on the Tesla boards......

Stay tuned...

At this point tesla is just incentivizing people to wait for more future discounts. Elon needs to take some MBA classes bruh

Yes but the car looks ugly... I wish they made a Tesla that looked impressive.
RAV4 Prime looks good though.

We bought a used 2018 75D X early last year for the same price as a new one now. I sorta feel like as if I invested in bitcoin. Resale value just tanked for sure.
Sorry to hear, but you were being ripped. My 18' 75D X only had 50k trade in value when I tried it last year.

Ignorance. The current Model 3 starts at $37k discounted and qualifies for $7500 federal EV rebate and in most states $3-3.5k state EV rebate. That's $26k right there. Stop making excuses for being lowly educated and a poor paying job.
Savage reply but very true. You can get a M3 for less than a medium equipped Civic which is missing countless features compared the the M3. Then to mention the no EV maintenance & energy costs are greatly less than my gas car was. It's amazing how many people are stuck in their own mental jail.

The only thing I dislike about my MY is how bumpy the ride is. I came from a Honda Pilot.

Did your simple google search also bring up that they add a 1-foot roll out distance to pad that 1.9 0-60 time? Take your own advice.
