It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990
Model S Plaid $89,990

Oh oh. I may have misunderstood. I can still take advantage of the $7500. My liability will exceed that. I am also installing solar panels. That may have been what the accountant said I could carry over? Does that part sound right?

yes, unlike the personal EV credit you can roll over unused parts of the solar credit for as long as the credit exists (which is at least another 10 years barring congress changing the law)

He also left out all the tax credits and incentives, that Tesla didn't have three years ago.

THEY don't have them now either- customers do.

Tesla doesn't get that $7500, the buyer does.

When Tesla sells an X today for $79,900 they get the same amount of $ they did when they sold them for.... literally the same price back in 2020

Quote from Imironman2020 :
with Tesla, it is possible they may drop prices further.

Again, the price NOW is... the same as it was in 2020.

They didn't "drop the price by 41k" so much as "temporarily INCREASE it by 41k" during covid shortages- then just put it back to normal after,

Ah yes, imagine Tesla doesn't benefit from any of that $7500.

What's the deal here? $79,990 vs $79,990? Don't get it.

You've notice cost for pretty much everything else gas gone up significantly and they haven't came down or expected to be coming down. So i consider this a discount

I mean, they literally get $0.00 of it when you buy the car. It comes off the tax obligation of the buyer.

Certainly BUYERS benefit from it- and might cause there to be more buyers. But 95% of Teslas total vehicle sales (which are the 3 and Y) already qualified for the $7500 tax credit before this recent reset-to-earlier-pricing change on the X.

And the S still does not qualify at all.

100% spot on: "literally the same price back in 2020".

They are getting more sales because of the Tax credit. Hell, they are strategically pricing with that in mind and plastering it all over their website. But they are getting zero in return, you can't be this obtuse.

2 of the best cars in the history of the world. You will not regret buying either of these at this price.

Think of electric car technology similar to LED TVs becoming more popular and replacing tube televisions. The prices are generally going to trend downward over time, and it's a wonderful thing.

for the Model X this is way lower than their lowest price. I bought the Model X in 2016 and the price was 110,000 dollars for 100D, the base was 90,000 dollars then. It never has been sub 80,000 dollars.
