Per manufacturer, this saw can get up to 85 cuts per charge on 4"x4" pressure treated wood and is compatible with battery used for 125+ other Greenworks tools

Got the 40V for free last week. Bought one, but the bar cover was jammed up. Contacted Amazon for an exchange, but they just refunded me and told me not to bothering returning it. So since they didn't want it back, I spent some time trying to fix the jam. Partially disassembled it, and ended up fixing the jam, so winner winner chicken dinner. Smilie

Review not good

"When we received the product, none of out three Greenworks 40V batteries fit the chainsaw. It is my understanding now that there are two different 40V GreenWorks platforms. You have to make sure you are getting the right one. "

I have this. It's objectively terrible quality, but handles limbing well enough. I'll buy the dewalt when this dies next year.

It's possible they have the old version of the saw that has a shaped compartment for the battery. I have that one and I'm guessing there are larger batteries that won't fit. Thankfully the battery from the pole saw/hedge trimmer combo I just bought fits.

Most of their new tools have the battery hang off the end/bottom so as long as the actual mount doesn't change a larger/different shaped battery would fit fine.

I just picked up my first chainsaw from Amazon and was considering this but I'm sticking with my purchase (WEN 4017 Electric Chainsaw, 16" https://a.co/d/4dN2hZp). More reviews (3000+ vs 31 for this one) and bigger blade (16" vs 12"). The one I got is NOT cordless though and it is $6 more but I figured I would share it in case someone wanted to compare an alternative

It depends what you are cutting and where you are cutting it, as both cord and cordless have their advantages. If the wood is dense and harder to cut through, I would go with the electric, as it is less likely to bog down. If you're trimming 2-3 inch limbs off a tree, you would be fine to go with a cordless/battery chainsaw.

With the Greenworks (40V), after using it to cut down some limbs and branches, what I can say I like and don't like about it is,

- Lubrication system works very well.
- Bar has little to no play
- I never had it bog down while cutting limbs
- Bar and chain are easy to adjust

-There is little margin on adjusting the chain tension, and if you don't have it dialed in right, it won't take long for it to come off.

Just bought this saw and use it, it's good but not great. Not the chainsaw fault but mostly the chain blade itself. For some reason, the chain blade come with it, usually not as sharp when u buy separately.
Same with my 18in ego saw.
