However, if you live somewhere flat, want to use it as a campground bike, or just need a reliable short distance commuter, this is a heck of a deal. The rear hub is low maintenance and gives you a good enough gear range for casual riding. This is a bike with very good utility if you are low on funds and need a solid bike to get around town/campus/whatever.
Just the wheels alone on this are worth $100. If you pull those and move the 3spd kit over to another frame you like more, this is still a bargain. Royce Union must have really, really overbought after the pandemic if they're unloading them this cheap.
