I got it for 449 yesterday and the price went down to 399. Microcenter offers price protection as well. So I can get the refund as well. Build quality is good.

In Dallas they never do it. On Amazon prime day, Microcenter didn't even match price with Amazon.
It was definitely a YMMV deal for that one day. I scored one at the Westbury, NY store and a buddy got one at the Flushing, NY store. We both had the email from that morning showing the price and that made all the difference.
Any thoughts on this laptop, kid wants to play some games
Still a great deal in my opinion at $400. Spectacular deal at $300. Depends what games your kids are playing. Roblox and Minecraft should be fine. Warzone and Fortnite I have tried at medium settings and get around 70 FPS which is totally playable and can still be competitive. It's also got 16gig Ram where many at this price point only come with 8 gig.
Not sure why this is getting voted down. This is an excellent deal for a RTX3050 with 16GB or RAM. The 11th Gen processor isn't going to be a problem at this resolution for most games. It's got excellent reviews, too.
People must still be bitter about the pricing error last week. If you need a basic productivity laptop and do light gaming grab it. Microcenter also has a 1TB SSD for $45 if you want a little extra space, though check because I don't know if this model allows it to be swapped.
I bought what I believe to be a fairly similar performing laptop a month back or so. Ryzen 5600/GeForce 3050ti/8gb ddr4 RAM/256gb SSD/15" 120hz 1080p display. To be clear though, I added a 2nd SSD and replaced the 8gb RAM with 2 16s. Ive been fairly surprised with the capability of the 3050. It's not good enough for the new or most all newish AAA games but otherwise, it seems plenty capable of a good 1080p experience. Being brand new to PC gaming, I wasn't really sure what to expect but I've been sortve tickled with the capability that came at such a low price. I'm playing Outer Wilds right now and Im able to play at very high graphic settings and have a good experience.

I have the i5 11400h and believe it to be a strong processor.

Probably because the Gateway brand these days is known as a cheap low level company with virtually nonexistent customer service. This is not the same Gateway company from 10 years ago.
A lot of heat issues. Also, when I see reviews that consistently state that "This review was done as a promotion" I run away from the product. Hard pass for me at any price point that requires you to find their Chinese customer service. You could be dealing with a e-waste within a year.
Seems like a solid deal for the specs, even at $400. I remember I got a "deal" on a gaming laptop 3 years ago for the same price and it was a 1650, 8gb ram and 256gb SSD. This should be an upgrade in every way

If you want to see the inside for specs and part numbers (Samsung NVMe SSD and one open NVMe slot, 2x8GB Samsung RAM, Intel AX201 Wifi, open spot for 2.5" SSD), look here: https://youtu.be/ocgm0nTNT8U?si=7feFSkIepMmiXL5Z
