I've had this exact model in my home theater/game room as an augmentation to the central air conditioning to turn on as needed. Massive upgrade to my previous window AC unit. The noise of it running is basically no louder than a fan, it's much more energy efficient, and being able to close my window almost all the way is great. I've had mine for a year now at a price similar to this, and it's been 100% worth the price, I'd never go back to using a standard window AC after this.
wait until winter and get it cheaper for next year.
I have a 12,000 a 10,000 and an 8,000. I also bought 2 for rental. Extremely efficient and whisper quiet. Lots of my summer renters tell me that they buy these units after stating in the house. These are unbelievable and cool fast and efficiently. I've used a lot of the top brands, these are top notch

Apparently there was a $30 coupon on it before it went on sale, and some people (very few) were able to still get it.

Completely lost in comparing window units, but my home AC has been on the fritz recently. I just jumped on the 8000 BTU Frigidaire that's on sale for about the same price.

Apart from the opening window options / installation, is this one a better deal because more efficient or anything? I appreciate anyone's context on this.

It is supposed to be much quieter as the noisy parts are outside. I am looking for one for the tv room because cranking the volume is getting old.

I just purchased a reconditioned 12000 BTU version of this for $350 that has been working great in our main bedroom. It is quiet enough to use at night, the fan is kind of like a low white noise which we don't mind. It cools great and I've been able to connect to it locally with Home Assistant. I have it on a smart outlet with energy monitoring and it uses about 9kwh a day. I also like that it doesn't draw a bunch of electricity when kicking on, it gradually builds up the wattage draw so there no dip in electricity in the room. Install took about an hr.

I have the Midea "U" shaped and I can testify that it IS much quieter than any other window unit I have owned. It is also an "inverter" A/C and is supposed to be around 35% more energy efficient. Hoe this info is helpful.

These are very efficient units - all inverter units are, really. They can throttle down once they're at/near the desired temp to quietly maintain temp while sipping power, vs toggling themselves off/on at full load. My 12K midea will modulate itself down to about 90W, and this 8k will probably go even lower.
