The Gladiator is rated for 3,000lbs, is made using birch instead of "hardwood", doesn't have the bar down by the floor to get bent, and to some people looks nicer.

That's not to say the Seville is bad. It isn't. Solid stuff.

I'm just pointing out that it's cheaper because it's more cheaply made. They're not "basically the same "
Whether that matters depends on what you're going to use it for and your personal taste.

Was hoping it can make a nice desk, but it is only 25" deep

These are super tables. I use one in my garage and installed a vice to one end. It will clearly last my lifetime.

The equivalent Seville table is between 199-249 at sams club all the time. I wouldn't consider this a deal.

I have the 8ft version of this as well as the 6ft and 4ft Seville ones. They're all great.

I've had a gladiator bench for 6+ years and it's held up great. This is a good price.

Outstanding price. Insta-buy for those in the market. The cheapest I was able to get the 4' was $327 after waiting a long time.

Would this suck for a computer desk?

Probably not great. There's a manual adjusting Husky work bench which goes up and down with a handle turn that worked well for me. Mine had drawers, which some don't like because it gets in the way of your knees at its lowest setting, but I just removed the lowest drawer and set height accordingly.

In process of cleanign out 50 year old workshop and now wondering if it's cheaper to build or buy this workbench... already have one stationary steel workbench but I want one more in the center of the shop.

I have what is likely the same Husky and use it for a standing desk. But I added a larger top that's mounted approx 8" above the Husky Top. That gave me a standing desk with a higher top height, as well as space to put the drawers. Works well.

I figured that if I ever ditched the standing desk I still have a Husky work bench on wheels.

Maybe. If you keep the height fixed it might be ok. But if you anticipate adjusting the height you'll likely have to clear the desk since you'll have to adjust one side's height and then the other.

I'd go with a Husky adjustable which last I recall go one sale in the low $200s w/ the drawers.

I am def. Getting this for a desk! My current desk is 28" deep. I don't think I will miss the 3". I had a uline packing table for a desk in the office and I loved it. They are deeper but didn't really need the extra depth. I just had a drafting chair with it. I don't trust the motorized desks that are in this price range on Amazon. Thinking they will break in a year. This will fit my 2-32" monitors and I keep my laptop to the side. I will possibly get arms for the monitors just to get rid of the legs.
