I have a version of this about 15 years old at this point. I of course do not use it a ton but I own a home with trees, lots of bushes, etc. and it's always handled anything I used it for. The largest diameter I've used it on is probably like 6-8 inches top though. It's one of those thigns for $40 it's well worth having around even if you use it 3-4 times in a decade.

Grabbed one at my local Lowes this morning. Hoping it's more powerful than my B&D 40 volt. I just use these to quickly cut logs that are a little too long for the wood burner.

I hadn't used a chain saw in decades. This is a great find as my trees are finally big enough to require something like this for trimming.

I forgot I'll also need bar/ chain oil.

It's your call, but if you've been thinking about getting something that costs $50 for 2 years and haven't bought it, you probably don't really need it.
I have about 30 things I could use, but never the extra money to buy. As it stands I just have to keep cutting with axe.

this may just be lower priority than say getting my car cranking this afternoon.

I've had similar 14" corded electric chainsaw for 7-8 years. Worth owning, capable of felling good sized tree as long as you keep the chain sharp.
Watch the pros, they bring round files with them, and take a minute or two to sharpen blades before the first cut.
Same. I actually picked one up cheap at a garage sale for like $10 and figured I'd just use it 'til it died but it just keeps going. I've never even sharpened the chain (although it starts to get loose so I've tightened it a few times). I've regularly used it for cutting 4-6" branches and also cut up a 8" hardwood tree once and a palm tree that was about 18" wide (had to work around the trunk since It was wider than the length of the blade). The palm tree was kind of soft, but tough and fibrous, so I figured that might kill it. Still kept going though. It was one of those short and squat palm trees, not monstrously tall.

One thing people should remember is that these tend to bind easier than gas chainsaws, so it's important to cut in kind of a V pattern when binding is likely. For instance, when cutting down a tree, gravity will make the weight of the tree start to pinch the blade. So instead of trying to cut straight through the trunk, start with a cut angling downward by a few degrees then back out and cut straight across just under that cut and keep alternating as you go to widen that V whenever the blade starts getting very deep. And it doesn't need to be a very wide V … just enough so there's always a bit of a gap around the blade. That should help with a lot of the binding issues.

These use basically an AC vacuum motor and never design enough airflow for heavy duty use so it will eventually burn itself up. This looks like a very similar design to the Kobalt (albeit with a more moderately-sized bar). If you plan 100% duty cycle with no cool down between cuts, it will likely not last very long. Cutting down/limbing? Probably fine. Sectioning off large trees? Might need to plan many breaks.

The 8 amp sized chainsaws however seem to run much cooler and can be fed 10" sections at a time without slowing down, with a slower chainspeed and cutting capacity.
Just noticed this is an 8 amp motor. That's a fairly large bar for such a motor, but it can likely handle the thermal loads applied from anything you throw at it. Don't stall it as it's likely brushed and will just keep heating up.

All this being said--great price, generally a good brand, decent warranty.

Going to get this today, might even pay $7.97 more to make it a 6 year warranty instead of 3, I just hope that if it stops working it is in years 3-6, and not 0-3 and have to deal with probable shipping, etc. to try to use the factory warranty!
