That said, the Engwe I've seen uses something like disc(?) brakes instead of hydraulic. Supposedly hydraulic is much better. Can't speak to the quality of other things. Would kind of expect a very average battery.
I've seen many recommended bike brands that tend to be in the $1500+ range. Can't really say whether they tend to be worth nearly double the cost, but it seems like they sometimes have better upgrades like hydraulic brakes, supposedly more safe and legit batteries, etc etc...
Like anything else, I guess do your research around. Keep in mind that there are people paid to try to influence your opinions everywhere now, even on Reddit and Bike blogs...
