I installed this in our garage after the last SD. Very pleased with the results. I have a portable vise on it and have zero complaints. I haven't tested the max weight, but I did stand on it, so just under 200lbs rated

Side note: remove the top from the brackets. Makes install much easier. I did it the entire install solo and it took me about 30-40 minutes tops.

LOL yeah, just flip it upside down

On a serious note, all support should be at the bottom, otherwise it will fail under the load

This is probably a ridiculous question, but I'm wondering if there's any way to hack this to make it a fold *up* work table instead of one that folds down?

Install it upside down and install 2-4 chains with eye bolts at each corner to help carry the load.

Agreed, I have two of these in my shop I use regularly for working on small engines. They claim they can hold 500lbs, not sure about that or how you'd go about mounting it for that weight. But I've stood on mine a few times and can confirm they can easily hold 200+ pounds when mounted correctly.

I would think 95% of people that buy this, would be mounting it to studs.

Are you better off building a bench by yourself or buying one?
