It's been a while since a Slickdeal made me seriously consider buying something I really don't need, but this is it. I already own one of these which I bought new early this year and it's a wonderful machine. For $320 it's a steal. I'm pasting my comments from this deal three weeks ago when price was $377.

-----------------
General Chromebook / Acer refurb thoughts:

I've owned or extensively used around 20 Chromebooks and Chromeboxes personally and at work
I've purchased around 10 Chromebooks from Acer refurbished store on Acer. They've all been virtually new. YMMV, but my experience has been 100% successful. Chrome OS is also exceptionally easy to powerwash and start anew.

Acer 516 thoughts:

I own this laptop -- bought it in February new for $450 + tax (Slickdeals thread here)
It's an exceptional machine, and a strong recommend from me for anyone looking for a very large, less mobile Chromebook
The screen is fantastic. I prefer 3:2 screens like on my Acer 713, but wanted a larger laptop and this 16:10 screen is bright, sharp, and very roomy
12th gen Intel + 8GB of RAM lets me do absolutely everything. I've not been able to slow it down to date (I don't use Android apps so that may be more challenging but I suspect it will do fine)
Speakers on the 713 are the worst I've ever had on any laptop and the worst part of that particular machine. Coming over from that, the speakers on the 516 are upward facing and plenty loud and clear for me.
Laptop is not a 2-in-1, does not have a tablet mode, does not have a touchscreen. I personally don't need those features but a deal breaker if you do.
This is one of the few 15"+ laptops anywhere that does not have a numberpad. A true blessing, as I am incapable of using those things with their non-centered keyboard and trackpad.

For this price it's a no brainer if you need a Chrome OS machine at this size.

This is a chromebook, memory requirement is much lower than windows,. Also the swap between ssd and memory is very effective as SSD speed is so fast. For such an inexpensive device, I don't see a reason to have 16GB on board -- what is the use case of 16GB on a chromebook anyway?

It doesn't come with a 2 year warranty. Only a 90 day one. It says that a two year warranty is $59.99 extra for a laptop that is $300-$399
It shows right on the Ebay order page for this product, "Two-year warranty included
Protected with fast repairs or replacements. U.S residents only. Your email is shared with Allstate for a frictionless experience."......so I don't know exactly what you are referring to?

Potentially. No Chromebooks officially support doing so, but on many it's possible to varying degrees of success. Try checking the mrchromebox website.

Thanks for answering this for me. Completely agree, 15 years ago I built a desktop with 16Gb of RAM in it. RAM is pretty inexpensive right now, there's no reason not to have at LEAST 16Gb for any machine, esp if you're running an OS that eats lots of RAM.
Except ChromeOS is one of the leanest OSes out there for someone like an older parent or someone who just needs Web access.

Indeed, the swap on Linux-bases systems is very good, and the chromeOS overhead is in fact lower than windows. Paired with a very competent 12th gen Intel, I wouldn't worry too much,

Not to TC (this is a great machine for those who not need touchscreen): If you are thinking of getting it for a middle/high school student, consider getting something else as being able to write directly on the screen using the stylus is becoming commonplace— it also saves trees because if your school district allows students to submit digital pdfs edited using a touchscreen and stylus. Taking live notes and then storing them digitally so that you can access them easily/remotely is another great benefit of 2-in-1s with stylus support.

Yes. There are still plenty of dual-core Celerons out there running it, lol. I have a 10th-gen 4-core i5 with 8GB and it's smooth as butter, this i5 is at least double the performance.

Nah, I would prefer a 16gb version. My chromebook swaps constantly, our newer corporate chromebooks have 32gb ram.

I have the lenovo's gaming chromebook the similar specs, 16gb ram would be preferred.

Can someone please let me know if this laptop can play basic games like Genshin Impact or Honkai Star Rail? Can it stream games like Xbox Game Pass?
Yes, you can play xbox game pass, geforce now and luna (completely laggy). I think this one should have come with 90 days of geforce ultimate pass when purchased new.
