It's not a replacement for that. I play frisbee with my large german sheperd every day, twice a day. My GF at the time got me one of these and I worried it would break a tooth or seriously injury my dog. Also, even if you don't plan on throwing it (idk why), the plastic will be very sharp with a dog that chews.
This toy is garbage.
I've held this item in stores before on multiple occasions. I simply don't understand what dog could handle catching this thing without getting hurt. Too heavy and rigid.

Perfect for my dog then. We kept getting him the biggest dog tires we could find and he would chuck them into the neighbors' yard constantly. So I had to buy him a larger actual tire that he can't throw so high, but worry about the lead content and other toxins in there. If this thing is hefty enough, maybe it can replace that tire.

Just buy a kong frisbee. Bought one like this as a backup and my dog put dents in it and the kong still looks new after 4 years.
I second the Kong recommendation. I have an athletic Mini Aussie who gets most of her exercise from frisbee catching, and the Kong and ChuckIt! Paraflight are by far her favorites out of a multitude of different ones we've tried over the years. Unlike the ChuckIt! though, the Kong is built to last like you said. A+++ in that regard.
There's a smaller version that's also great for dogs south of 30 pounds. My gal is 33 pounds, so both sizes work out well.
