Such a shame they put such a low-brightness panel in this. Otherwise it's a reasonable deal.

where are you using these laptops? The surface of the sun?

I bought the Asus with 300 nits and have never had an issue with brightness, other than the times it was actually too bright.

I often sit by windows. These laptops don't work for me.

I do too and haven't had an issue with them. I'm in Florida too, so the sun is strong here.

Yeah but once you go to 500nits, there's no going back.

I had an M1 Max MacBook. That was 1500, trust me these screens aren't as bad as people are making them out to be.

I have an M1 Max 16" MacBook Pro, and I've had 300 nit laptops. They are definitely as bad as they are made out to be.

I just got an RMA for this PC; it's a shame, as it's pretty lovely.

It seems built a bit cheap for the size, and the screen has a bit of flex.

I'd also like a number pad and backlighting.

I have the previous gen and love to work outside during the spring to fall season. That laptop made me squint too much to make it comfortable, and the screen was too dark to be very visible. I have never had a problem anywhere indoors.

I agree 100%. Once you start using 500 nits panels there is no going back, its a world of difference.
Can you work with 300 nits, sure. Would you want to - Hell no.
