still seems pretty expensive for 4 ounces of sugar, corn starch, corn syrup, dextrose, gelatin, red 40, yellow 5 & 6, blue 1, and artificial flavor

It is likely it would have at the very least 4 ounces, and as much as 8, based on some research. Likely to be close to 6, so a better deal if you don't mind wading through (assuming all you want are the marshmallows)

Jet-Puffed Mallow Bits [target.com] is what you're looking for. They're smaller than the lucky charms and fun to put in hot chocolate (which is probably what Id use the LC for, too). Just like the little marshmallows that come in the Swiss Miss packets of instant hot chocolate.
