Bought a different one, black and white only about 10 years ago for about $170.
I do see local inventory in my area.
Good luck!
Jon
switched to brother. much happy.
Edit:I mean a document feeder for the scanner
With the x5x series printers (the newest models), these printers utilize the "067" toner cartridges. A full set of 4 Canon toner cartridges would run over $360. And third party toner, despite being easy to find, STILL costs around $200 for a full set of 4 toner cartridges. Maybe this will come down in price later...but then again, this series of printers is now 1200dpi (vs 600dpi), so the improved printer quality may be the factor that increases the price of the toner cartridges (since the imager is built into the toner cartridges).
Whereas the x4x series printers (equivalent model would be MF641Cw) use the "054" toner cartridges. The Genuine Canon toner set is $250. And third party toner can be found for $60 for the same full set of toner.
So, while the newer printers have better image quality, in just "deal" terms...you'd save way more going with the older series of printers.

I have the MF641Cw. Good for what it is. Do you by chance have a suggestion/link for a quality 3rd party toner supplier?

Is the one I just purchased a week ago. So far I've used only cyan, and it worked fine. Instructions were poorly translated and tiny graphics (would it REALLY be that hard to get someone on Reddit for $10 to fix the translation and print pictures larger?) but overall the installation was easy and somewhat intuitive - remove the orange plastic entirely, stick it into the printer. The printer hummed for about 60 seconds, then Cyan was back at 100% capacity.
The printer GUI tells me the cartridge is genuine. I do like that fact. Based on that alone, assuming I have no issues, I would buy this brand again.
I bought this brand because the ratings were highest of the 054 carts I saw on Amazon.
When removing the toner tape, the directions say to wipe clean the area where the tape was. Don't skip this step.
