I have some Sony lenses from my previous DSLR, they should work with this right?
You have to use an adapter to use your A Mount lenses to E mount mirrorless.
Sony has its own adapter around 220, depending upon your lens performance will vary though..better to use E mount lens line up

Gets more complex than that too :/
There's two adapters; one for more modern AF A-mount lenses and a more expensive one that supports the older screw driven ones.
As for thoughts on this vs the newer a7 IV; the a7 III is a great camera, especially for this price, but Sony took a very very long time to work on the QoL features other brands have long offered. They only really fixed this recently with the a1 and onwards. That includes a fully articulating rear screen (finally with a higher resolution, though on the a7 IV, not much moreso), a better menu system, better responsiveness, lossless compressed RAW, etc.
The a7 IV also has an updated AF system, though the a7 III is still great. Worth noting if you care about that and are willing to pay the price premium.
