Wish there was more affordable Internet service. I don't need gig speed. Even 10-20mbps is fine for me. There are very few options in the $20-30 or less bracket

Apparently you have zero clue what you're talking about. You may have had a bad experience in the past but me being an actual AT&T rep, I know the facts. There's zero install fee, free modem/router combo, no contract, and it's not promotional pricing. There's zero ability for a rep to tack on anything crazy on an internet bill.
Check fiber forum history: I almost signed up in the past, but couldn't get equipment fee waived

ATT 300 Mbps plan has 1 TB cap
do you have a screenshot of that? is 300mbps a fiber service?

fiber doesn't need to cap data, which is why you typically won't see it.

It is a problem for me also. Modems are erratic. Other option is spectrum which is equally bad in my area.

I have cox and its 500Mbps so it's always crazy to me att is like nope cant get you faster. I'm just like you could of you invested a little more. It is just chapping my hide they are making serious money off all is that they refuse to upgrade. We pays 100s for slower service with crap data caps. Just my rant of the day. Lol

Can anyone confirm that you see $55 without needing a wireless device?

I work for the company, Fiber doesn't have equipment fees unless you rent the wifi range extenders.
My bill is $85 with the $5 off for autopay and $10 equipment fee + taxes = $95.95. Maybe it's by state ? I'm in San Jose California

So no more HBO Max promo? When I was a new customer, my bill was $55 with MAX included.

It is not $55 forever. The discount may continue, but the retail price will go up in time.

Hmm, don't see anything mentioning "lifetime" in that pic.

Do see this in the terms:
"Subj to change and may be discontinued at any time."
And
"No price increase at 12 months"
I mean, regardless, it seems kinda dumb to sign up for any sort of "lifetime" deal when it comes to data transfer.

Fiber may be the best option for the next 5-10 years, sure, but then what? I've had dial-up, DSL, and cable internet over the past 30 years - if I was still using a "lifetime" subscription to any of those, I'd be lagging sorely behind the times.
