$64.99 on Amazon if you want to avoid Newegg.

If you get the 5% Cach Back from Prime visa, this makes it cheaper than Newegg at approximately $61.74 AFTER cash back.

Solidigm™ P41 Plus Series 2TB PCIe GEN 4 NVMe 4.0 x4 M.2 2280 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (2TB, M.2 80mm, PCIe 4.0 x4) SSDPFKNU020TZX1 https://a.co/d/bVXog6D
You did not get the part where these very budget QLC based Gen 4 SSDs performing better than the highest perfroming PCIe Gen 3 drives. In Every generation, you'll have products belonging to different categories, very budget, middle end and higher tier models and that is true for Gen 4 drives as well. This is a very budget drive based on QLC memory but it has performance better than the highest end PCIe Gen 3 drives and that is more than enough for literallty every applications. Compared to PCIe gen 3, if you buy similar QLC based SSD, you will be getting those 2500 MB Read and 1500-1700 Mb Sequencial Write performance at best.
Nah bruh. The only requirement is Gen 4. I have no issues with this drive in my PS5. Heatsink also a must.

Just gets cheaper and cheaper, was $70 a few days ago. Not a bad drive if you have an open 3.0 port on your mobo.

What's up with these pci 4 ssds at pci 3 speeds or less? Why don't they just make them as pci 3 drives? The ports are backwards compatible.

It is slightly faster on a gen 4 slot than is possible with a gen 3 slot so there is some benefit for it there. Biggest thing is probably just that newer controllers support gen 4 so it's minimal effort to support it. Personally, I'm looking at this for my system and it will be going into a Gen 3 slot anyway so a low end gen 4 slot will basically be a high end gen 3 drive for me at a much cheaper price.

Edit - if you happened to have a gen 4 x2 slot it would be able to retain the majority of it's speed there too and basically have equivalent performance to a gen 3 x4 slot.

good deal, same as the 670p at newegg. I'd get the 670p though due to the dram. Still this is very good drive.

Intel 670p Gen 3: Read 3500, Write 2750
Solidigm P41 Gen 4: Read 4000, Write 3300

Honestly I don't know the advantage of DRAM in this case, though I'm far from being an expert in understanding SSDs.

I've heard a lot of bad things about Newegg's return policy and support, so I'm hesitant to purchase from them. And right now, Amazon has the same drive for $5 more with a supposed 20% discount. But I'd like to wait and purchase this a little later, so does anyone know if this is this an actual discounted price at Amazon and likely to end at any time or just the same price it's been for a while? I appreciate any help.

if its gonna be a boot drive you for sure want a dram drive. for a game drive or general storage this is more than fine.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I figure it's probably best to go ahead and get it now instead of waiting and regretting it. By the way, do you know how it stacks up against the Intel 670p, just in general? I tried reading up on each of them, but I'm not sure what a lot of the technical jargon means.

i use mine for the ps5, and it works flawlessly. this drive is gen4 vs intel gen3(not compatible with ps5). for most people, real world use as a daily desktop to play games, youtube, surf the net. you cant even tell the difference. possibly if you are moving big files, and when i mean big like 10gb+ files then it may slow down a bit. i may be wrong, but how often do i move that size of a file? hardly ever.
