How does this deal stack up? I thought it looked decent, but nobody is giving it much attention, so I'm probably wrong?

Meh. It's a 4050. Not getting me excited.

To me it doesn't look like a bad deal. 4050, i7, decent screen (nits police haven't showed up so that can't be too bad), backlit keyboard, not a Gateway...so all the normal peanut galley complaints are covered.

If someone wants to post a better deal we are all ears but I have been looking for a 4050+ laptop for a month and other than Microcenter stuff (that isn't in driving distance for me) this seems about the best NEW laptop I have seen in recent history.

There is a Tomsguide review of this laptop here (take it for what it's worth):

What should I expect at this price?

I'd spent another 100 bucks or so for a 4060 laptop or I'd get a 4050 for maybe 100 less than this on special. And if you don't care much about graphics speed, you can just get a nice integrated intel or AMD in a lighter, longer battery, prettier package.

I'm definitely after a gaming laptop. I just don't see any with comparable specs and a 4060 for 899.

Most RTX 4000 laptops launched fairly recently. To make matters worse, there are very few laptops with AMD GPUs too so no competition essentially.

You'll likely have more choices in your price range during BF and end of year sales though. RTX 3000 laptops went through this same cycle 2 years ago. Crazy to think RTX 4050 laptops started at $1000+ while not giving much of an uplift from last gen.

Thanks. I didn't see that because I filter out Lenovo on my searches (employer banned Lenovo and Huawei products, even as personal devices being used for remote access).

Usually lenovo gets a pass. If your company is serious about security, you'd want a made-in-america or taiwan laptop, and there aren't all that many. And they're less likely to be deals. Even this dell i'm on was shipped from china.

Why is it so hard to find the screen specs 45% NTSC vs 100% RGB? Even going to the manufacturer site is not turning up that info that I can find.
