One need to connect to the modem of current ISP and other I can place anywhere else as long as it is plugged into an outlet? So that works as a wifi-extender? Is this compatible with all ISP?

Can't recommend as too old now. Go with Eero for something simple but far more robust and WiFi 6.

Get used Asus LYRA MAP-AC2200s on eBay instead, same speed, half the price, or less, and easier to install openwrt on them.

I have one of these with only the router centrally located in the house. The house is about a around 2000 sq ft and I can get around 500mbps to my macbook from anywhere in the house, including the basement. WiFi 6 would be nice, but this is still good value and it's definitely not slow.

How do these compare to the eero pro 2nd gen? I am looking to buy routers for a large 3 story house.
Highest speed is not crucial, as service is Comcast and is very slow; currently on wifi extension I am only getting about 13mbps. I am looking for a reliable router that can handle multiple devices, tv's, phones, security cameras, computers etc...
