I saw this on a video for tools that all woodworkers should have, so I set a CCC watch for it to come down in price. It's now at an all time low. Looks like a great tool for setting your table saw blade and/or router bit height, checking the depth of a grove or cut, your drill bit point and chisel angles if you resharpen them. Great add-on for those, like myself, were able to grab one of the Delta table saw's last week.

POWERTEC Universal 5 in 1 Measuring Gauge by .This versatile measuring gauge tool provides you with a variety of functions designed to produce high precision measurements and repeatable settings for quick and professional looking results. Although it's perfect for setting up blade height on table saws or router bit depth, this must-have tool allows you to do so much more…

The "Frequently bought together" had a "Kids first toolbench", and a trashcan...

Fitting. 😆 🤣 😂

Not really. Bought the first version of this and barely ever use it.

There's far better tools to assist with dados.

I'm sure maybe one exists? But really this is just one of those "Oooh honey look. You're brother is a Woodworker, this would be a great little gift for him, huh?" and in doing so, make every holiday awkward from that point on. Lol.

Personally, I've tried a lot of Powertec, and none of them have been any good. Just rebranded Wish/Temu items that have zero quality control, and are often sold under other names at a lower price.

Pass. The three items that put my measuring on the next level were setup blocks, a quality combination square, and a marking knife.

Honorable mentions go to a digital caliper, digital angle ruler and digital magnetic angle finder.

I probably watched the same video as OP, and unless you're planning on churning out piece after piece as a side business, this isn't likely to replace your tape measure and angle finders for the functions it is meant to perform.

It could be useful for helping someone create consistent cuts for making their first jigs, because you can run the cutting edge up to it and know that you're good to go without fussing over whether that worn mark on your tape is 11/16 or 3/4, or if you have vision issues in general, or if you're doing a lot of routing with different shaped bits where the cutting surface is in different places.

For me, this isn't a $23 device, but it would ensure consistency if you had more than one person producing parts of a piece for resale in a small production environment.

What's really funny is if Woodpeckers had made this every YouTube arm chair woodworker out there would pre-order for ten times the price, willing to wait six months for it, all the while touting how ingenious it is. 🤣

Looks like most of the functionality can easily be 3D printed.

Can't imagine this being helpful for dados. Anyone considering this would be much better off buying a cheap $10 combination square [homedepot.com] and keeping a cheap protractor [amazon.com] in mind if you find yourself in need of one.

I practically never measure, but use the actual pieces, or offcuts, to set my tools up and don't have a need for the drill and chisel angle gauges.
