Seems like $175 is a great deal for the cheapest vitamix. Anyone think the Venturist is worth the extra $100?

Isn't this technically a dupe of the other post?

Also, I decided to go w/ the v1200 Super Pack [vitamix.com] for $30 more at $305 instead of the certified refurbished v1200 [vitamix.com] for $275 due the following:
  • New vs Certified Refurbished
  • 10 year warranty instead of 5 years
  • It comes with a few more accessories like 20-ounce SELF-DETECT® blending cup, 8-ounce SELF-DETECT® blending bowl, tamper holder, and blade scrapper.

For $30 more, I think the 5 extra years of warranty alone already more than justifies it. The accessories are just icing on top - may try to sell them if I don't end using them. Just the cup and bowl sell for $140 on Amazon [amazon.com].

Hope this helps.

To the experienced Vitamix people. Which one should I be looking to get in order to make nut flours (almond/pecan etc)?

The comments by users in the Almond Flour Recipe discuss using the dry vs wet blade container. https://www.vitamix.com/us/en_us/...mond-flour

One user states that she sifted to collect the flour and used the remnant for almond butter. The moisture and oil content of the almonds impacts the result. Expect clumping.

IME a manual control blender yields an excellent result once the operator has learned technique. It depends on the user if the models with programs are worth the extra cost.

The Ascent series adjusts the motor speed according to the container. The higher end models have programs accessible from the control panel while other models require the use of a smart phone to access certain programs.

Can anyone comment on the cheapest models? I was set to buy a vitamix knock-off or a ninja until I saw this.

Just wanna be able to crush ice and do some other vitamix-stuff.

We have one of those little magic bullets now and it SUCKS!!!!!!!

The turboblend 3 speed is their cheapest model. Looks to be the same as the 5200 without the variable speed dial. The 5200 is rated very high on a lot of reviews.

Can't speak to this turboblend model, but I bought a used 5200 a few years ago and it opened up a new world for me, never thought I'd use a blender so much

Keep in mind the variable speed dial is a huge advantage and comes in super handy.

For your purposes and this price point, consider other options. Consumer Reports rates the 5200 and 750 very high, but the Turboblend is way down the list at 35th place. One of the Ninjas performed very well in 3rd place right below the 750 and 5200.

Ninja BN801 Professional Plus Kitchen System, 1400 WP, 5 Functions for Smoothies, Chopping, Dough & More with Auto IQ, 72-oz.* Blender Pitcher, 64-oz. Processor Bowl, (2) 24-oz. To-Go Cups, Grey

Another high scoring blender was this
nutribullet Smart Touch Blenderâ„¢ 1500W, just a few points down from the Ninja.
https://a.co/d/eEGonOW

Both scored "excellent" for ice smoothies and "very good" for ice crushing.

Other Ninjas and nutribullets scored lower, so keep in mind blenders are very model vs brand contingent.

Other sites that rates blenders are

I use a blender maybe once every five years. Certainly not paying 175 let alone 400 for one.

My vitamix just arrived today. It is f--king amazing compared to my ninja 900w model. The ninja gets the job done honestly and I probably wouldnt pay full price for the vitamix ($400) when the ninja was $80. But at $175, the vitamix is very well worth it.

Did you get confused and think you're on Facebook, where you post random thoughts about your personal condition that nobody else gives a rat's ass about?
