But using the 3050 on battery (outside of short bursts for compute) is not very practical.
This has never been below the $1000 mark for new.
The one you're talking about is the other model without the dGPU or the open-box.

Cable Matters [Intel Certified] 40Gbps Active Thunderbolt 4 Cable 6.6 ft with 100W Charging and 8K Video - Fully Compatible with USB C/USB-C, USB 4 / USB4, and Thunderbolt 3 https://a.co/d/eyAWWLS
The other 2 I tried that didn't work were 4ft and 6ft.
I tried both TB3 and TB4 cables, though I am not sure if there is actually a spec difference in those.
With current games, that's around what I've found.

I already had a Lenovo Ryzen + 3050 based laptop so I'm used to the level of performance offered, but this one seems to really manage cooling well, the fans are not very loud at all while gaming.
As others have mentioned, the new 2023 model with a 4070 and 13th gen i9 will offer much more performance when gaming on battery and undersized adapters. However, that model is basically always out of stock and retails for $2300. Like yes a laptop that costs 2x more performs better. But at $999 new this is absolutely a killer deal.
