Keep in mind, this is ABS and not PLA or PETG. Higher temps are needed, an enclosure is recommended and you should not be around the fumes.

Ughh I wish PLA or ASA were on sale. ABS is not worth the hassle compared to ASA.

There is no "better".

ABS isn't nearly as stringy as PETG, stiffer, lighter, and glues better.

PETG has the best layer adhesion and is extremely abrasion resistant.

Both can handle a Texas garage or trunk of the car. PLA will droop.

ABS does have a higher heat resistance. It is slight but it is better in that regard. ABS is _much_ easier to paint and glue. So ABS is better in that regard. ABS is typically cheaper then PETG. So it is better in that regard.

I meant links for petg for 12 to 15 bucks . lowest I got was 18 .

A few years back, ABS was dirt cheap (like sub-$10 all day long) due to everyone assuming that PETG was basically ABS on easy mode. However, it seems like ABS has made a resurgence and now it's typically more expensive than PETG or PLA depending on brand.

I've heard good things about ASA but it's even more expensive than ABS. Both of these let off some fairly noxious fumes/VOCs so a ventilated space is highly recommended.

I wish I would have stocked up on cheap ABS when I had the chance but I was relatively new to 3D printing and had no experience with it. It still has its place for functional parts but if you're mainly printing decorative indoor items, PLA is the way to go.

Sunlu always has their PETG at $12-$14 on their website (though you do need to watch when colors come in stock as it is bought up pretty quick). Right now I have CC3D up on Amazon for $15 for Sunlu at $16 for 1 spool and $26 for 2.

Good price, if they didn't use cardboard spools. Cardboard absorbs and retains moisture, and companies are starting to use this for a product where moisture is the enemy Frown. Also, not good for AMS units. You can print an adapters, but getting cardboard shavings in the unit could be a pain.

Strength wise. Yes. They're very close. PETG is actually stronger in some circumstances. And easier to print with.
But ABS is easier for post-printing processing.
And you can expose it to alcohol fumes to really smooth and polish it up.
And ABS has a little bit higher temperature resistance. It won't melt in boiling (100c) water.

Same issue. Have an ams and don't want to transfer rolls.

https://iiidmax.com sells 10 packs of PLA for $120 all the time with free shipping (you can choose colors).
In order to prevent PLA from melting in a hot car - anneal it. Put it in a container with very fine salt and put in oven 100C (220F) for an hour.
PLA (not even annealed) is actually stronger than PETG or even carbon reinforces plastics.
There are tons of test on youtube. And annealed PLA is 30%-50% more stronger than that.

I work in plastic injection molding for more than 20 years... as a technician I breathe in fumes from multiple 20 to 40 lb purges (piles of hot plastic) every day for 20+ years. Our company meets all the criteria and is very safe so when I see you guys complain about these fumes it really makes me wonder..... 90 percent of all our jobs are abs...I breathe in more fumes daily than any of you could from your micro slow printers in a year....and no I'm not knocking 3d printing....I have a 3d printer
