There are only so many times I can say no to this Dank green beauty.
Jesus stop posting these deals. Do you guys WANT my wife to divorce me!! Man I want this beauty so bad. Can't. I can't. I mean I could. I shouldn't. But it's a hell of a price. I don't know. Oh for farks sake. Why not right?
Sorry for writing a novel, but I hope this helps.
Guitar comparisons typically aren't a thing. The thing with guitars is, it's going to come down to your personal preferences. Sure, some of them have more expensive pickups or a higher quality wood, etc… but it's the player who makes it sound good, and each person's preference. Your Strat and this guitar are two completely different types of guitar, and are going to sound and feel different. Neither is better or worse than the other.
I'm assuming yours has 3 single coil pickups, right? The small pickups, rather than these brick-like ones. This guitar has humbucker pickups, which give a more beefy/deep sound. I swear by humbuckers. I won't touch single coil. However, this is where the preference thing comes into play. SO MANY GUITARISTS play single coil. Neither one is better than the other. It's all about what sound you like. Each style pickup is better for certain sounds. So, it's all about what sound you're trying to achieve.
If you have the money, I'd say get it. Every guitarist should try as many different types of guitars as they can to really see what they like. I have a several guitars ranging between $200 and $1,000, that have much different sounds and feels, and my $400 Tom DeLonge Fender Squire Strat is still my favorite. I just love the tone and feel.
Gretsch makes fantastic guitars, so even though I can't tell you if you'll like it more, you'll at least get a quality product.

I'm a guitar newbie. How is this compared to a stratocaster? If I have a fender player series stratocaster, is it worth it to own this one also?
This just seems like a really great price and it looks amazing!

What kind of music do you want to play?
So I have a Stratocaster and a Gretsch G5230T. They are both awesome and I would recommend either one for a new player. Both were around the $800 price point assuming the Strat is made in Mexico. The one in this deal should be good too.
Normally Strats have all single coil pickups, they are really good for leads and overall pretty versatile. The Gretsch is going to be able to get more muddy and deeper with its Humbuckers. I play in the worship band at my church, I play my Gretsch because I play rhythm, our lead guys plays a telecaster which is similar to a Strat.
If you are just getting into playing I think this Gretsch could cover all the bases, by the time you want another guitar you may be more familiar with what you are looking for and can go to the store and try them out,
Any difference between 2622t and the actual deal linked here on the 2655t?!?
The G2655 model has a smaller body than the G2622 series, but they are practically the same on all other specs. The size of the G2655 guitar is on par with other "normal" size guitars (Les Paul, SG, etc.), where the G2622 is a typical large style Gretsch body. Nothing significantly better or worse between the two, just a matter of preference.
Mods should update the title of this post to reflect the G2655t model though...

Came to say the same. This is the "Junior" model - an awkward name for a great axe.
It's still a full scale, just smaller body, as you suggested. People are often confused by the "Jr" in the title and think it might be a smaller scale instrument, like the Ibanez Mikro or the Squier Mini. It's not! It's a full scale proper guitar, just with a smaller body than the normally oversized Gretch models.

This is a licensed Bigsby, not an actual Bigsby-made unit. Still a nice deal, though.
