Worth noting this i5 12450h processor is nearly twice as fast (per cpu mark) vs. the i7 11390h in the slightly cheaper unit.

So don't let the i7 vs i5 mislead you. The 12th gen i5 is newer and much faster than the 11th gen i7
don't expect warranty, support. if fan starts making noise 4 months down the road, no replacement part.
Ditto!
I am still within 30 days return period and they don't respond anymore.
Forget about warranty.
It's a scam posting here to trap customers! These chinese sellers should not be allowed here.
So, its CONFIRMED!

I am trying to return as the PC runs too hot. Furthermore, I believe there will not be any support if / when the PC has issues.
But, Acemagician will not respond. In fact, they responded but would not issue RMA for return even though it is within 30 days.,
Opening a dispute with my bank.
Does anybody really want to deal with this? Go ahead, buy their products!

Pretty capable little machine. Probably asking too much, but I wish it had thunderbolt support.

I guess one of those purchases that's better made with a premium credit card like Amex Plat.

Could just mount a peerless assassin to the case and you'd be good to go.

To directly meet the question, no, not for a particular level of concern. See the recent-ish Barricuda incident where they told their customers to throw away their stuff after the Chinese established persistence through firmware patches.

OTOH, you have to trust someone... So probably define your threat model, decide where you fall on the spectrum of valuable targets, realize you're not that important, and move on with your life. Or maybe buy a MacBook in cash at a physical store and hope they're not all compromised.
1. Acer is a taiwanese brand. Just like dell is an American brand. They are both made in China. Would you trust Dell more than Acer? 2. Barracuda's problem was hacked through email protection. A proper firmware update and OS clean install will fix it. Throwing out the drives is just a convenient solution since consumers may not have the capacity to do that.

Problem isn't the availability of ports, problem is the lack of a proper RAID controller.

this isnt much of a deal. You can get the minisforum nab6 with i7 12650h specs. It has more usb 3.2s slots and 2.5gb lan barebone system for 250 plus tax. Adding 32 gb ddr4 ram will run you less than 50 bucks, even cheaper if you only need 16gb and 500gb nvme is 20 bucks these days...
