I paid the extra for HF bottles (on sale) for years because I have outdoorsy friends who swear by the brand; a few have used the warranty through REI multiple times to get replacement bottles with very little hassle.

But after using bottles with true wide mouths/lids (as opposed to the narrower ones like on this bottle) that also have spouts, I'm never going back. So much easier to add ice, and I don't have to hold the cap while I'm drinking. Takeya sells bottles with true wide mouths and a spout lid with a simple grid to keep all but the smallest pieces of ice from going down the chute. It's a little thing, but it's useful/noticeable.

If you just want the cheapest option that will insulate much better than any solid-wall bottle: definitely go for Ozark Trail. But if you find something like wide mouths or lid features that you like, it may be worth paying extra as long as you're not going to lose them frequently.

I like this with big opening my daughter uses it. But I prefer my Takeya with the one one click open operations so I can drive and drink my hot/cold drink. My ice maker is small enough that I have no problem putting ice into my Takeya
