Actually I was delighted to find the Dairy Queen single cheeseburger I had today only had 370 calories. I was further thrilled to get a small ice cream cone for 230 calories. 600 calories for lunch if you don't snack is fine. People just overeat. There's nothing magical in terms of weight about fast food. The nice thing about fast food is all of the calories are listed so you can easily control your calories if you care.

Heart healthy may be another thing , sigh.

Who comes up with these 'days'?

National cheeseburger day?
With 365 days one goes to cheeseburgers?..

Actually yea, that sounds about right, but I better not see any broccoli days…

Yes, but the dramatic rise in the last 2 years is unsettling to say the least. Prices always go up but at a much slower pace. Just 2 years ago you could still grab a fast food lunch for around $5 or $6. Now it is well over $10.

Capitalism! The restaurants (as an example) pay 10% more and then pass along a 20% increase to the customer! Add shrinking sizes to that equation, and the American consumer is getting hosed on a daily basis!

I actually like 5guys since their burger tastes like home made burger that the beef hasn't been frozen. I can't stand frozen beef. I'd rather cook the burger at home than pay 5guys prices however.

Any other burger joints than 5guys has the frozen beef burger to me. I think Shake Shack is fine. Same for Smash burger, but I don't like McDonald's or Wendy's type burger joints.
What's this huge obsession with Five Guys here?? If it wasn't for their better selection of toppings (and giant portions of fries, perhaps), the burger itself tastes like cardboard and the prices are ridiculous!

Really depends on how you look at it. The ingredients if you also include condiments, buns, Cheese, etc. come out to about $3.50 per burger for a 1/4 burger. So if your time to prepare, clean up, electricity, water and any other things like Charcoal is worth less than $8 (this is including tax and tip) then yes making it at home is cheaper. Making it a home might taste better though depending on your skills. But even at $8/hr your time should be worth more than a $9 burger

If you want to compare like this, don't forget the time to drive to and from the restaurant, plus gas. Unless you live next door to the place, if you can make a burger at home for $3.50 + 15-20 min, probably still better value and better ingredients.

which is the best value deal in terms of size and taste? nothing red robin?

My vote goes to "Smashburger" (insofar as fast food establishments are concerned). Especially with their current $5.00 deal on classic cheeseburgers. In terms of taste and unique varieties, it's good value overall.. Sides are good as well. And everything is prepared fresh. Don't expect better quality, better tasting burgers at the cheapest prices. Their prices are reasonable relative to the quality of the product.

I was wondering the same after seeing Wendy's pathetic offer. Dave wouldn't want anyone to be Junior celebrating this hallowed day.

What's "pathetic" about a burger for one penny??

Yeah, really health conscious! 🙄 Burgers drenched in grease and fries dripping with oil (that go into a paper bag that changes color after becoming saturated with oil)! 👍

NOT truly expired since some restaurants are still offering extended days of deals....such as the Wendy's one penny deal, the Smashburger deal and Burger King (who's offering a variety of deals this week).

You are right, given its your first burger in months, heart disease (heart attacks) is no longer America's number one killer.
