If your cats will take to it, this is the best system I've used with this "hack". Super cheap, easier to clean than clay, and much lower smell when using the pine pellets

No, regular litter would just fall through the grate which holds the pellets up. But some people use pine litter with it.

These are great and work really well. You do have to make sure you stay on top of changing the urine pads out though. You don't want to experience a full urine tray because you forgot to change the pad.

Literally happened to me. You'll notice urine smell before its max capacity but make sure you have a trash can and a sink nearby to dump the pad and wash it out. Great unit, but overflowing with piss is no bueno.

This is what I do as well, but with the Breeze XL units. I'll never go back to regular litter.

I use pine litter. Yes you have to clean up the mess. I just shake the litter so that the powder falls through the grate and into the bottom tray.

I was looking for one but then it might be troublesome for the cat to go in and out (if you have large cat).

I've tried this before. Yes, it's cheaper, but it's super messy. The broken down pine pallets will stuck in the holes and I had to wash it about monthly.

The Purina pallets actually last much longer than advertised. I've tried to change it every 3 month to 6 month and no issue at all.

You can switch to pine litter. The pine litter will break into powder and falls through the grate, but you would have to shake the litter to get everything to fall into the pad below. I dont like the pellets that comes with the litter box since they do smell over time and you have to replace them (it depends on how often your freaking cat pees).

I am thinking of getting the XL version but I need to do some measurement. My cat seems to be unhappy w the regular size which he currently uses as he needs to move around to pee and sh*t. I find it strange that amazon allows free return for the XL version but no return for the reg version.

Do the purina pellets smell after a few days or a week? Do you need to spray those anti-odor stuff on it?

I find it odd that the reg size is not returnable, while the XL is returnable. I had a chat w Amazon and they confirmed it... Strange...
