For those of you who don't know what this is:

This is a small travel router that connects to an ethernet port of an existing network, OR can be connected to an existing Wi-Fi network and used to create your own personal Wi-Fi network but this router uses a VPN to mask your traffic when used.

It can also be used on Visible to share a phone connection with multiple devices but you will be required to use a TTL hack to make it work.

There are a few ways, the one I use is:
1. Connect phone/laptop to captive login wifi.
2. Connect GL.iNet to power
3. Log in to GL.iNet web interace
4. Change GL.iNet router MAC address to the same as that of your phone/laptop.
5. Connect GL.Inet to hotel WiFi, and it'll work.

A big use for this is also when you have a hotel that charges for, and limits the number of devices that connect to wifi. This isn't as common in the US anymore, but still common internationally. Also, if you have a ton of electronics with you, having this would save you from having to reconfigure each device for the new SSID.

Side note, I have this and it works great, the VPN works well too.

It's cheaper on aliexpress for $69 (with current promos) if you don't need it ASAP. I had a few extension auto input some coupon and dropped the price down to $59. I ponder a bit but I decided to bite. I attached my checkout screenshot below. Good luck.

Background:
I been using Glinet Ar300m a (2.4GHz) router for travels and easytether when there is internet issues. In the US you can get a prior model refurbished MT-1300 for $49.99 [gl-inet.com] [gl-inet.com] on their official store front site. The phone app and web interface makes it dummy proof. I was on the fence with the refurbished MT-1300 cause I wanted a 5.0GHz for my next travel but since the aliexpress MT-3000 was $10 more for build in Adguard home, newer Wifi 6, better VPN speed, I decided it was worth it - price too good to pass up.

PS - Also 5% PayPal cashback for Chase freedom Big Grin

Still don't see how it raises performance as an extender if you already have spotty coverage, assuming your backhaul is still over wifi.

Yes, connection between this and your tablet is nice, but this would still have spotty coverage.

Unless you plan in leaving it in a spot with good coverage to extend into your room.

I can see it useful if there is a single ethernet jack or decent wifi signal for it to use.

Thank you! I've never purchased from Aliexpress so while the price is attractive is there a chance of receiving a used item or knock off? Amazon returns are so much easier than dealing with a company overseas.
