For those of you who don't know what this is:

This is a small travel router that connects to an ethernet port of an existing network, OR can be connected to an existing Wi-Fi network and used to create your own personal Wi-Fi network but this router uses a VPN to mask your traffic when used.

It can also be used on Visible to share a phone connection with multiple devices but you will be required to use a TTL hack to make it work.

There are a few ways, the one I use is:
1. Connect phone/laptop to captive login wifi.
2. Connect GL.iNet to power
3. Log in to GL.iNet web interace
4. Change GL.iNet router MAC address to the same as that of your phone/laptop.
5. Connect GL.Inet to hotel WiFi, and it'll work.

A big use for this is also when you have a hotel that charges for, and limits the number of devices that connect to wifi. This isn't as common in the US anymore, but still common internationally. Also, if you have a ton of electronics with you, having this would save you from having to reconfigure each device for the new SSID.

Side note, I have this and it works great, the VPN works well too.

It works very well for this too. On a recent trip our phones and fire stick could only get ~10m on the hotel WiFi but we were getting ~70m when using the mt3000 even with wireguard or openvpn. I love the little switch on the side that I set to establish a WG connection to our home network so we have adguard and etc without having to manage it in two places. Cannot recommend enough but maybe I should stop so I can have all the hotel bandwidth to myself lol.

Using public VPN providers can be detected. If you really want to appear as if you're working from home, you need to connect it to a router at home.
Can u share some more info on how to do this

How? Did you use a promo code and what was the code? It's showing up for $82 after tax (8.25%) and free shipping (https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32...54517.html).

I have tried this unit and for my purposes, as a travel VPN/router, I prefer the slate plus A1300 router. Here are the reasons: 1) Low powered. The A1300 uses less power than the beryl AX. I can easily power the A1300 with a battery pack and carry it around a cruise ship, for example, or airplane. It also barely gets warm. I can also power it with any 5V 3A compliant supply, which is what PD provides. 2) Has all the login protocols including EAP, which the beryl doesnt have. 3) Runs wireguard VPN and openVPN out of the box 4) Very fast setup. For some reason, I struggled for many days getting the beryl set up and the A1300 took me an hour. 5) Plenty fast enough. For home use, permanent install, you may want the faster speed of the Beryl. For a travel router, this unit will not be the limiting speed, even with VPN. For example, I tested this at a starbucks and the starbucks connection was the limit. Sometimes faster theoretical speed is not practical speed and has additional overhead. Finally, it really is important to have this work out of the box since support is not that great.

For those people who end up getting this Beryl Ax and finding out it is not easy to use, return it and get the slate plus. I did that and am very happy with the Slate plus and unhappy withthe beryl

So would I be able to use a high speed wireless connection when I connect this to hotel room's Ethernet cable without paying for their 54kbps premium WiFi with sometimes unstable connection if your room is far away from an access point? My apologies if this was already addressed

I had the Slate Plus for a couple of years and while it was good the MT-3000 is a definite upgrade. My company requires ovpn and the processor was definitely the bottleneck of the A1300. Lack of EAP can be overcome by cloning a MAC id. As far as setup goes they were nearly identical but maybe the earlier firmware was different. I usually do selective routing over ovpn and WG simultaneously while traveling now and even then the router uses maybe 3-5w and can easily be powered by a battery pack.

I don't know how one could possibly bypass EAP by cloning the MAC. This doesn't make any sense to me. Unless the AP has a serious security flaw.

The beryl spec is <8W power consumption, the 1300 is <6W. So it uses about 33% more power. I suspect that perhaps I got an old version of the Beryl AX. I bought it about a month ago direct from Glinet's website, and when I opened the box, I noticed that the documentation linked me to the Glinet V2 docs even though the current firmware is v3. I had difficulty with their V2 documentation. Even after I upgraded the firmware to v3, it was still sluggish. Glinet has been known to update their hardware, so maybe I got an earlier version? Whereas when I got the A1300 from Amazon, it had up to date firmware and documentation link. Shame on GLinet to sell old stock of Beryls. At least they took it back and refunded it once I agreed to remove my negative review on Amazon. But I am happy with My A1300.

how does this compare against the mango travel router? I hear all the great things about Mango router and I assume the router OP posted is a natural evolution of Mango...
What can this router do that Mango can not?
